I don’t even think we have those kind of players to poach lmao.

Except maybe Gabriel Nunez (Dominican Republic) and Renato Punyed (Nicaragua).

I’ve said this before & I’ll repeat it again. If someone has doubts to represent us, don’t call them up. I get it, we might NEED some to make ES even more competitive. But tbh we gotta stop accepting people who wanna use us as a spring board. This is honestly a nasty move from Romero cuz he wants to play with the USMNT. If you don’t feel the pride of the white & blue then don’t come. Just as bad as the people who sold games and put us back two entire starting elevens.

I also can’t help but think. Wouldn’t it be better to be a big fish in a small pond, than a small fish in a big pond?

If there was a decision between playing a random 1 or 2 games total with USMNT, or be a mainstay with La Selecta playing 90 minutes in international tournaments, I’d pick the latter. Think the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kevin-Prince Boateng etc.

I loved what you wrote. This is exactly what we think of Álex Roldán.

I just read an article about Dustin Corea. I honestly didn't know he played for Deportivo Mixco! Guatemalan second tier clubs tend to pay good salaries.

And that's a decent club, this was Marco Pappa's last club before he decided to be a full time alcoholic and throw his footballing career to the trash, he's currently incarcerated because he also loves beating up on females!

    So back to Dustin,

IMO Hugo Pérez is being way too strict by excluding him from the national team.

I didn’t know that about Pappa. Man went out sad smh

I disagree on Hugo being too strict. He’s clearly no-nonsense and Dustin couldn’t follow a simple rule that everyone else was able to follow. If there was a genuine excuse for not showing up, Dustin would’ve alerted Hugo. Professionalism, people!

Yes, so much talent wasted. That's why he's been inactive for years. If he was healthy and still playing for our national team we would have a much better edge. He's 33 years old. That's what addiction does to people, it destroys lives and careers :/

I feel bad for Dustin, I guess you're right about the professionalism.

wishful thinking in my part but I’m hoping what his dad says is true. He looks to have a lot of potential and seemed to get a long with the others in U23. Where I am coming from is that this was a communication from FESFUT. The same leader who spun the story about the players negotiating for $1,000 to lose. While I don’t agree with the way that the alianza players negotiated, i can’t deny that the story was definitely spun to FESFUT’s advantage. We will see if he gets a start with LAFC soon. Perhaps it was the coach who is going to give him a chance to start soon and doesn’t want to miss out.
On the other hand, I did see someone say that he removed a picture of himself in the Salvi Jersey so if true he maybe creating distance already. I can’t confirm that since I did not follow his social media before this incident.
I do agree that we are in good hands with Mario and Kevin. That was an intense final between FAS and Alianza. It is interesting to see that this news of Romero has generated the most activity in this forum that I have seen in awhile. Shows you how proud and passionate our fan base is.

That would be the wise decision IMO. He’s only 20, he can change his mind about USMNT and neither are in a rush to cap him. Glad that Hugo is staying level-headed about it.

I just saw his IG profile and he has indeed removed his photos from the pre-Olympic tournament. That does suck, though he still has the Salvadoran flag in his bio FWIW.

Yes, I am glad it generated activity here. There’s only a few active members left, but that’s all you need :)

I mean he will keep the flag since it isn’t sports related.

We need to absolutely curb stomp the US Virgin Islands, some of these group winners could come down to goal differential. It’s possible that Puerto Rico upsets T&T to qualify.

Damn that was really fast tracked Hugo doesn’t mess around, the good news is that he is in form and is one of the best if not the best players on his team.

They likely want him for the Gold Cup.

And now we have pretty much attained all the expat players we need! Hugo can give Moreno a test run during the Guatemala friendly, prior to the Gold Cup.

Now to attain Alex Roldan and Bryan Gil Hurtado :coffee:

The balls on Hugo if he manages to convince Alex lol, it would be controversial but it would be huge because he would be a definitive starter.

Hopefully Gil does decide to switch he is still very young and we need a player like him on the team.

Wow T&T drew against the Bahamas so that means St. Kitts and Nevis is the Group F winner.
