The 2021 regular season starts on April 17. Are there any news/movements with respect to the PRO rosters (refs, ARs, VARs) for the upcoming MLS season?
Not related to the original question, but I did see this article on the MLS News & Analysis page. Howard Webb Explains How, Why Major League Soccer Does VAR Differently https://www.forbes.com/sites/ianqui...-soccer-does-var-differently/?sh=5d4c63de19db
I'm hoping that they keep with the "no lines" for OS, but from what he says, it sounds like only a matter of time until MLS uses lines for OS review.
"The 30 current assessors are experienced ex-officials from all over the world". (http://proreferees.com/2021/04/13/pros-assessors-finalize-their-preparation-for-2021-and-beyond/) Does that mean that PRO is using assessors currently residing outside US and Canada or just that some of them used to be refs/ARs all over the world? Anyone has any idea of who those might be?
All of the PRO assessors reside in the US or Canada. Some of them refereed at the professional level in other countries prior to emigrating here. Many of the assessors worked in MLS in the past as refs or ARs.

Good to know. Among those 30 PRO assessors, are any who have never been referees or ARs at the professional level?
Good to know. Among those 30 PRO assessors, are any who have never been referees or ARs at the professional level?
I know one of them wasn’t he’s the NA for a major state tho (prefer not to share which state). Most worked the league tho. This particular person was only a National. Never a MLS regular (he probably did a handful of mls 4ths).
After limiting it down to a list of 30 people and then sharing more details, I don't know that "prefer not to share which state" is actually pulling that much weight.
Photo shoots are out on Instagram of the new Capelli kits. I'm guessing the shoes are only for the photo shoot and not what we will see in matches.
When are they going to announce who's going to be wearing these new kits? The first game is less than six hours away.
If I remember correctly, assignments post-Covid came out really, really late if at all last year. They just may not want to announce an assignment and then start the rumor mill if an official suddenly is taken off a game.
I wish soccer would share the officials' communications in real-time like every other sport does that uses video review.
MLS is using the new laws for 2021/22. Howard Webb confirms that the new IFAB law changes will be used in MLS this year from the start of the season, including the new handball law.— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) April 12, 2021
Pro has announced new Assistant Referees to their roster: Diego Blas, Chantal Boudreau, Ryan Graves and Jeffrey Swartzel. https://www.facebook.com/proreferees/posts/3004609969771073
Interesting that PRO chose Facebook instead of their own website for this announcement. Any new referees on the PRO roster?
Derek Boudreau was on the MLS list in 2017, as I watched him referee a Fire-Timbers match in person at the Fire’s stadium in Bridgeview. I thought he did really well. He was off the MLS list a couple of years later.
She also isn't a referee. They've added a bunch of ARs and use a few 4Os who aren't a part of PRO every year but the same three dudes in the middle for a decade.
If anything I’ve seen a huge influx of new guys brought into the league. Dickerson, Touchan, Gonzales JR., Rivas, Ford etc. Dickerson and Rivas both worked last weekend. And the 4O’s and ARs are part of PRO. They just aren’t listed on the full time rosters. They’re part of the developmental groups/tiers
