They will never do it but CONCACAF should make Mexico finally have a road type game and make them play El Salvador in Landover, Maryland or Baltimore. Group D is going to be very competitive.
What I'd love to see is a Group B matchday in Stade Saputo - any one of Canada/Haiti, USA/Haiti or USA/Canada there would be electric.
Hopefully by next Summer they will. I know States like Florida Texas and Georgia will gladly have fans back by then. (Heck, Florida may have big crowds allowed by the end of this year.)
Man they're talking about no Olympics and other sporting events next summer.. Pencil me in as doubtful.
Knowing CONCACAF it may be an option. Those States have a bunch of stadiums. But as I said, there will be other Southern States that will also have loose restrictions by next Summer. Like Georgia. Hopefully things will get better all around the country though.
Biden seems a bit slow mentally to play any games quite frankly. But seriously it is up to Governors.
Nope. Lots of World leaders got Covid. Does not make a difference to Governors of States that want fans in Stadiums. College football has fans. The World Series is set to have fans. 2021 things should get better.
Dr. Fauci said the virus is supposed to get WORSE by next year lol nb4 We don't believe in science. PAJA! and like I said.. there's been further discussions to end the Olympic games next summer so... lol
On top of that didn't a couple of NFL teams just shut down operations cuz of COVID cases? We just all kinds of bad here huh
Dr. Fauci has said many things. It does not matter as long as Governors want people going to sporting events to stimulate the economies. The Southern States will be open and ready to go by next Summer. Whether the Virus is worse or not.
NFL teams and protocols have nothing to do with CONCACAF greed and corruption. It also has nothing to do with Southern States and governments.
If CONCACAF was that greedy they would've found a way to do it by now. 25% capacity for Panama vs Qatar is about as pointless as it being behind closed doors pimp. I just don't see it. CONCACAF gonna find out the hard way.
The difference (and why I think @HomietheClown 's closer to being right here) is the same reason Conmebol's dead-set on starting WCQ now, roster upheaval be damned: TV money. Specifically, Concacaf doesn't get any from WCQ, as there's no centrally-negotiated deal, so it can afford to wait. TV contracts are already in place for the next Gold Cup, OTOH, so it's happening sí o sí (same deal with the Copa América). I only have one request, though: if Concacaf's limited to only having games in Texas and Florida, then they should get creative and spread the games beyond the obvious host cities. I want games in Pensacola and Key West; I want Jamaica vs. Suriname on some god-forsaken high school field in Dixie County
Florida: Miami (NFL stadium and FIU college stadium), Orlando (College Stadium and small MLS venue), Jacksonville and Tampa NFL stadiums, Fort Lauderdale (MLS/USL). Boca Raton (college). Texas: Houston (NFL stadium and MLS), Dallas (NFL stadium and MLS), Austin MLS, San Antonio old Alamo dome but still can be used. Maybe some college venues across the state that need money or old stadiums like the Cotton Bowl. Georgia: Beautiful NFL stadium, some College stadiums that may need money. Tennessee (NFL, MLS stadium.) Maybe some College stadiums. Alabama Birmingham has hosted some nice USA matches in the past. I think those options are not bad to choose from. A Great tournament can be played in all those stadiums.
Big news today out of Florida is that the Governor declared that all Stadiums in the State can go Full Capacity now. We'll see how this experiment goes. If it goes well other states will follow suit way before the Gold Cup.
...I'm intrigued. Particularly to find out what public health measures will be in place, and what stadia are actually capable of implementing them. I mean, it's bizarre to hear of all the hoops pro leagues have gone through to be able to play, and here in FL high school sports are happening with at most a temperature check for the players before games
Going back to the CONMEBOL connection/reference... ...Colombia is reportedly trying to play Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier in Miami.
