Era mejor Herrera, mejor técnico, mejores resultados, mejores eledcjones y decisiones.

No gano nunca, mentiroso.

The US now has the upper hand going into CONCACAF and this tweet kind of made me realized they did it by completely switching things from 2019.

In 2019 we defeated them in the Gold Cup final with a 1-0 score in a game where they gave us a battle but we came out on top and got the result. To make things up they immediately made a friendly and then we proceeded to defeat them 3-0 in one of the most dominating games in years and years, basically settling things for the time being.

Now in 2021, we lose in a Nations League final where we gave battle and even were better for most of the match but lost 3-2. To make things up almost immediately Tata goes all out in the Gold Cup to win it and we end up losing to their B team in as an embarrassing loss as theirs but in an official continental title.

The thing that reminds me is that what Eric Gomez says is the precise way that Martino won that friendly as Bernhalter had the team come out playing and we pressured them and made them cough up a lot of balls, that how Eric Gutierrez's goal came about. I remember everybody here laughing at Berhalter and everybody in the US forum wanting to hang him. Now Berhalter changed things up and went back to what works for them and he's getting the result against Tata. Just as Tata came into that game with 4 wins against CONMEBOL teams and the Gold Cup and now he came in with a bunch of mediocre performances. It is what it is. Mexico has a chance to make things up again in Cincinnatti later in the year but Tata needs to get his head out of his a$$ and then off it and start to work. At least do the Osorio and past coaches thing and go the damn stadiums.

We must remember that we knew this was coming. We all have said for last 4-6 years that we had no great defenders coming up and a solid defense was always a strong line for us. We knew it

And it takes just as many years to develop “good ones”.

It is not one player’s fault. It is a broken system. Martino had nothing on the bench.

Correct me if I am wrong but I don’t think I ever saw Pulido play once on the national team during Osorios reign and same applies for Pizarro.

Mexico’s weakness is set pieces AND dando las jugadas por pérdidas/acabadas. See Arteaga vs Costa Rica and Moreno vs Canada .

    Es un negocio so…

You and I clearly disagree on el Chicharo. He is part of the problem with Mexican football. I will give you that, Chicharo over Pulido but el Chicharo is the epitome of what’s wrong with Mexican football.

Our disagreements on el Chicharo are futile: you think he is partially the answer and I wholeheartedly believe he is part of what’s wrong with Mexican football.

I have watched mostly all of his national team matches from 2010 and there isn’t one match where se hecho el equipó al hombro. You blame el Chepo in 2013 and from what I saw was players who bought into their own hype - starting with el Chicharo. La selección went through different DT (so the Chepo excuse is at least somewhat debunked) with el Chicharo failing to rise up to the occasion and missing a key goal vs Cost Rica and he ended up on the bench. People misinterpret my disdain for el Chicharo as if I am saying he doesn’t know how to kick a ball. He is a partial media creation.

But for the sake of this “argument”, calling up el Chicharo is neither here nor there. He could be called up and score goals against some teams and also miss like he usually does.

The problem is “dar ese siguiente paso” que el futbolista mexicano le hace falta. A country like Mexico should have at least 2 or 3 Chuckys on the bench and 2 or 3 solid #9s but no. Lo que tenemos es a los ESPN deportes, los Televisa, los Azteca repeat the same act. America, Cruz Azul, hate on the regíos and bring up Chivas even if they are lower mid table. Everyone wants their cut.

The US applied some corrective action after failing to qualify for the 2018 WC (they still need some work on qualifying for the Olympics). Mexico took corrective action in the early 2000s and started winning U17 WC and Olympic gold. When can the same be done for the senior team? Mexico esta y será perjudicado por la cercanía a los EEUU (for good or bad). This is nothing new.

I have a lot of thoughts that I’ll divulge more on later but for now this tournament was a big failure. We didn’t win, we didn’t play well, we didn’t play very many players, we hardly played any of the young players, our attack was weak, our defense was shaky, our midfield always played a player down, etc.

im not saying it’s doom and gloom and we won’t make it to the WC but I hope this is the wake up call the federation, staff, players need. One positive - that stupid chant might be dying.

The only thing I will say is that everyone always talks about doing better in the WC. However those same people always want to bring veteran players back that were part of a failed cycle or bring back a former coach because “oh, we played well in a WC match with him, that we ended up losing, but we still looked good.” If Mexico wants to get better they need to move on and also look for better players and if there’s a similar skill level between a 18-23 year old and a Chicharito or Jona or Gutierrez or Guardado, then take the damn young player who has potential to only improve and be better.

The main issue I have with this tournament is the player selection. 1-2 years ago when Mexico played Algeria, South Korea, and Japan. The MLS players stuck out like a sore thumb because they were extremely slow as well as Gutierrez. They were not good enough then and not good enough now. Those guys have had their chance and shouldn’t be anywhere this senior team moving forward. I’m just upset that there were 2-4 spots we could’ve used to bring up a couple young players from Santos, Atlas and Gimenez, De La Rosa or Munoz instead of Pulido but we failed to do so because of this stupid “experiensa” thing.

I'm mad about the loss as we had the better team and played better overall. But I'm not really worried as this team was missing its two best players and many future key players.

All in all we are improving. Youngsters are getting more minutes than ever before in the Liga MX and the Liga MX has recently produced good talents.
Just have to continue to improve scouting and the fruits will be there.

Losing always sucks, this one specially because it was to this make a wish version of a nads team. But in the grand scheme of things this won't matter, we've lost to them before and it wont be the last time we do.

What worries me is the team continuing in this horrible form through the games that really matter when the wc qualifiers start. Funes Mori for all the good he did in the first few games, went cold in the final. Jimenez was really missed.

And sorry y'all but Tata is not it.
