Ok for him to coach men/boys though? Speaking of coaching men/boys, what I’ve heard is Holy Cross are hiring the Mens assistant and keeping things in house. Word at the GA event this weekend was that this will be announced in the coming days. This was from a coach within the conference and they didn’t think it was a rumor and were certain this is what is happening.
Blake James didn't want the hassle, and then with the help of his friends he made it back to the women's game. No worse example in NCAA women's soccer or perhaps any women's NCAA sport today.
Fair point- he shouldn’t be coaching anyone. Abusive people are going to be abusive wherever they are.
Can we stop this now? No use clogging this topic with BS. It's either rumors no one knows as truth or you were on a staff and shouldn't repeat. Either way, let's keep this about actual coaching hires instead of bashing.
Heard Sam Houston is getting close. Top three candidates PVAMU head coach, Sam Houston current assistant coach, and then a D2 head coach. Haven't heard of anyone else in top 3 unless they brought in a ringer I haven't heard about.
There are many layers as you say. Players that leave on money could be leaving over a lack of playing time. Players that are playing but leave could be leaving over a lack of money. Players that have money but aren’t playing, should raise a red flag. But even then, it might not necessarily be abusive. Could be a personality clash. Most schools seem to invite criticism of coaches. They make it easy for players to complain. If they didn’t, I think we’d find out where the truly difficult situations are.
Also worth noting that some universities just suck. No campus life, middle of nowhere, lack support and/or spirit, budget/program cuts, poor faculty, crappy dorms, safety issues/bad neighborhood, etc. all play roles too. Certainly not applicable to the top 200 schools, but some of the bottom 150. Dorrance himself could coach at some of those schools and have high turnover simply because of the setting.
The list continues to grow for female coaches of men's programs. Natasha Ademakinwa - now the Director of Soccer at Shawnee State University (NAIA - Ohio) after being the women's HC for the last four seasons. She moves into the role after the men's HC retired after 23 years coaching. Kendyl Baird was the assistant men's coach at Warren Wilson College (DIII - North Carolina) after being a graduate assistant at Montana State-Billings on the women's side the last couple seasons. She is now the interim HC as the previous coach resigned. University of Chicago hired Julianne Sitch as their men's soccer coach. North Central University (DIII - Minnesota) made Colette Montgomery their men's coach after already being the women's coach.

No clue, ask him. I'm not. Heard they were looking at former D1 head coach from Texas, D2 head coach, and former assistant coach to take over there.
Wagar did a great job building the Grambling program very quickly so if this happens it is a great hire.
No inside info but I heard the same thing about Grambling. Would seem to be a great fit. It makes a lot of sense. He seemed great for the program and if he wants to come back it seems good for everyone involved.
Anyone got updates on any of these schools? Getting close to crunch time. Hopefully they get coaches in place so teams have direction. Sam Houston State (3/2) Grambling State (3/14) UNC Charlotte (3/15) Arkansas Little Rock (3/18) Boston (4/11 - retirement) Illinois State (4/25) Florida (4/27)
We are getting to about that time when athletes will be headed home in the next two weeks and several programs won’t have a new head coach in place. Tough place to be if you are not in the portal and not knowing who is going to be leading your team this fall and potentially not meeting that person until august. Of all the hires so far who are the 3 that stand out the most as home runs? This hire already seems a lifetime ago but I would give Georgia the gold medal.
I also think Texas AM Commerce did pretty well for what they are. Also give credit to Tennessee for not dragging there process out and naming Joe almost immediately. Seemed like the players were happy with it so for the time being it was handled really well by the AD. I also like the hire that Arkansas Little Rock just made. I think Kelly will do well there and happy to see her get a chance to run a program.
