Zaniolo would be the ideal AM of the midfield 3 or in the hole behind Ronaldo and Dybala. Make it happen Paratici/Agnelli.
I think juve is gonna have a hard time signing Italian players moving forward, it's been a graveyard for emerging players lately ... caldara was flipped asap, spinazzola was traded after a year, Rugani has turned into a ghost after being very good at a weak empoli, berna went from a guy who scored double digit goals and over half a dozen assists for two consecutive years into this hollowed out guy who will occasionally knock in some good crosses and corners, but he just can't find any form consistently.. and juve have a long standing of loaning out guys right after signing them. Berardi has been solid this year, but the press and team would have gave up on him if he didn't play great from the get go. Now contrast that with how pjanic, khedira, cuadrado constantly have been kept in good favor by two managers now.. higuain as well. We just saw two of these guys hold us club hostage and force them to keep them, that being said... few Italian youth players really have that killer instinct, zaniolo certainly possesses that but I rather him stay at Roma so he can continue his growth.. he just recovered from an acl injury and he doesn't play timid at all which is impressive, definitely a strong minded guy.
Caldara had to be flipped to get Bonucci back. The team didn't voluntarily discard him. Spinazzola had to go to balance the books. (We also got a young Italian defender back from Roma in exchange). Again, the team didn't want to get rid of him. Rugani has never impressed. Bernardeschi has also done poorly, despite having been given chance after chance. Pjanic has only been used regularly because until Bentacur started to develop, we had no other technical midfielders. He has slowly lost importance and has been sold. Khedira is always hurt, and therefore, next to impossible to offload. Cuadrado's versatility makes him a useful player. Higuaín, overall, has been a good player. There is no anti-Italian or anti-youth bias. Players that are good will play. Players that aren't get shipped out assuming there is a market for that player.
Pellegrini set to return to Juve after his loan deal expired. His staying will depend on if MdS is sold or not (get rid of MdS, dude is always injured and hes shit)
As for Bernardeschi, he only scored double digits twice, once he scored 12 at Crotone in 39 games and once at Fiorentina, he scored 14 in 42 games. The guy has never been that good, Juve massively overpaid for him (probably because he's Italian) and he's been a bust at Juve. Caldara was flipped for another Italian. Spinazzola joined Juve when he was 17. Juve loaded him out because they had better players at that position, he never was able to claim a stake when given the opportunity. Rugani, is Rugani. The problem is that Italian youth players have not been that great until recently. There was a lot of busts and overhyped players. It's been the past season or two that we've been getting good young Italian players.
At 42 & 1/2, has Gigi Buffon played his last game? Regardless if he is a Gk or not, anyone going on 43 is old!
I think it depends. If there is a miracle and we win it all, he hands them up. If not, I could see him being the number 2 again, I just hope it doesn't come at the expense of a younger keeper who needs grooming.
Well, THAT is certainly ringing endorsement. If we are even contemplating keeping MdS over the kid.......
Kulusevski was probably the best young player of the year for Serie A. We need to bring this kid in and play him
Your right , I dunno why I thought his stats were better... it was that breakout year in 2016 where he had the 13 goal, 5 assist record... his 2015 season wasn't bad tho with 6 goals and 4 assists. A 15 million dollar transfer fee would have been more appropriate. Tho for all the flak he gets, his corners often play the ball in good spots in the box, it was his cross that rabiot volleyed onto higuain for the goal. He also plays some very good one touch passes into the box, he's played two very good balls into open space on the first touch with his back to the goal and right to our attackers for a shot. He definitely has talent. I do think the fact that guys like spinnazola, ciro, and even quagliarella have all done pretty good post juve do say something about the club tho and should be considered... tho no one back then would think Fabio would be so strong in his late 30s.. I don't think it's a fluke that ciro and quags can be so successful on subpar teams... now this is really controversial, but if you give his highlight reel a solid look, giovincos freekicks are surprisingly very accurate during his Toronto years... the mls is very weak and the keepers certainly are, but his placement on those kicks is why he scored more so then keeper error in many of those goals... I'm not sure about how much the positioning of the wall was responsible because I never played keeper or was on the back line. My main point tho is that juve used to be a feeder to the national team and those days are long long gone, any incoming juve Italian signing I feel is expected to be that quality.. growth into that role is not really encouraged. Juve basically walk this league( except this year).. I don't think it's necessary to not allow one guy the chance to grow with regular playing time when I see guys like Sami, Juan, pjanic, Danilo, Ramsey bottling it with their play.. stuaro was probaly the one guy who was given a chance despite struggling. I think berna will turn into a pretty good player when he leaves juve as long as he stays in the league. Conte would be able to fix him, he'd probaly do well at Napoli, Milan or Atalanta as well, he'd also have pretty good chemistry with zaniolo because that guy makes every around him better. I do realize that a lot of a players success depended on the system used, which is why ciro is constantly at top of goal leaderboard but can seldom score for Italy national team in the important games
What do you guys think of the reports that conte has been texting players on juve and nedved asking about sarris job security? His recent interview is kind of typical operating procedure for him, are these reports just reporters pimping that into a theory to sell papers? I have noticed that he really never looked happy at the announcement videos for him coaching inter, he looked depressed and angry in that one video in the car where it was an interview.
So yep, Kulusevski indeed got young player of the year for Serie A. Dybala got overall player of the year, he finally stepped it up
Yet, he isn't always an integral player for Sarri and Allegri basically wanted him out. What the ******** do these guys watch?
He had that breakout year when he first came here where he scored 19 goals and 9 assists because he was the big focus up top as tevez was gone. The next season would be 15 goals and 7 assists and his 3rd season was 23 goals and 5 assists. This year he had 14 goals and 8 assists... these figures include cl play as well for all stats mentioned. He has suffered since Gonzalo cane here because higuain became main target man so Paulo has to serve more as a set up man, but he's not strong enough to break through physical defending so he ended up just getting fouled often leading him to play quick simple balls and occasionally try to dribble past a man often earning a foul. Pjanic and the Ronaldo arrival ended up taking many free kicks away from him so his goal scoring chances dipped, both of them are not very good at free kicks tho Ronaldo occasionally scores, pjanic would just waste them. Paulo is a good player, but a poor midfield ends up seeing Paulo dipping into the mf to pick up the slack, so many less goals... Paulo is best inside the final 3rd and especially in the 18. The management Can't afford to fix this midfield so more of the same next year.. I dunno who even could fix our midfield except zaniolo and verratti, neither want to come here.
So today I read that we are being linked with Milik in a 40M move and City bought Ferran Torres from Valencia for 23M. Good day.
If he is getting a pay raise then we are ready to build around him, we just need people around him to help him succeed. We have some young players like De Ligt/Rabiot/Dybala/Bentancour that gives me hope. Bring in Kulusevski and add Arthur in that mix and we will have a solid midfield. We do still need a solid winger and another solid defender. Chiellini and Bonucci are just not in their prime.
-------------------------------Szczesny--------------------------------- New RB or Cuadrado--Bonucci/Demiral--De Ligt--A. Sandro ------------Arthur------------Bentacur--------Rabiot------------------ Kulu------------------------Dybala-------------------Ronaldo Not bad on paper with the right management and reinforcements off the bench.
Don't think Jorgihno is coming. Don't think he'd be much of an improvement and he'll be 29 soon. He'll also cost a ton
What's the point of Bentacur if you bring in Jorginho? I prefer continuing to allow Bentacur to develop. He has more upside as is.
