Sounds like the little girl at the Pelican's game last night who started crying inconsolably when they said the game was cancelled: Little girl at postponed Kings game crying...appears to say 'This is my first game" while hugging her dad. pic.twitter.com/qgVMN77mSk— Gifdsports (@gifdsports) March 12, 2020 (this clip actually is before she really fell apart)

On one hand this really sucks because I was hyped to see MLS back in action. On the other hand we suck so meh. the big hit for me is that I have(had?) a trip to Japan booked for next month. I can’t tell if this is another Y2K or SARS or not. Everyone is freaking out and I don’t get it.
No one knows what will happen. Could end up not being that bad and this all looks like overreaction. But the >worst< case scenario is if allowed to spread quickly we end up like Italy where hospitals are overwhelmed and docs are having to decide who doesn’t get a respirator.
That is the Zlatan Influence at work. For those that want a soccer themed book may I suggest Among The Thugs by Bill Buford. If you ever wondered what fueled the drive of 70's and 80's English hooliganism and the level or organized mayhem these crazy guys went to both inside England and abroad then this is your book. Buford is an American writer/reporter who asked to be allowed into their inner sanctum and be taken along so he could witness and document the insanity.
Mathematics for Human Flourishing, by Francis Su Also rereading Moby Dick, by Herman Melville, after a thirty year hiatus from classic American literature.
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by some Doctor Guy, forgot his name. It's a quick read but it's got a very clever twist and a totally satisfying ending.
Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything your American history textbook got wrong - James Loewen It’s an easy fun read showing the side of history that was passed over in school. Who knew Helen Keller was a communist? Homage to Catalonia - George Orwell My favorite book ever. The true story of George Orwell going to Spain as a journalist to cover the Spanish Civil War in 1936 and upon arrival joining a militia. An account of war from an actual great writer. I felt like I was there.
so... i'm currently in the Miami area having gotten tickets for the game and travelling early to visit an alternate office for the company i work at. oops.
Beckham must think he’s cursed with Miami FC at this point. All the delays and lawsuits and temporary stadium issues. Finally the big weekend comes along all the planning and parties and events all ready to go and boom league-wide shut down.
LA Confidential is probably his most popular mainstream book but IMO White Jazz is probably his best. It really pushes his writing style to the limit, which is good or bad depending on what you thought of it before. For those looking for something shorter to read, there's Poe's the Masque of the Red Death. The movie with Vincent Price is fun too. I've got time so it's The Plague by Camus for me.
I think this will last longer than the month. I expect football won't kick back up till june-ish at the earliest. In the meantime, time to get football manager and try out GBS tactics to see what happens.
The game thinks Chicharito is only a poacher but he never scored for me until I changed his tactics to advanced forward. Then he got lethal.
I think it's Florida that's cursed. Remember Mutiny in Tampa Bay and the Fusion in Miami? Dead as a doornail...
I just listened to the audiobook of 1984 by George Orwell on YouTube. That book scares the crap out of me lol. Go read Dune by Frank Herbert. The movie will be coming out this December and its supposed to be even more accurate than the Sci-Fi Mini-Series.
UPDATE | Major League Soccer has instituted a team training moratorium for all of its clubs beginning on Friday, March 13 and running through Sunday, March 15. #Covid_19. https://t.co/DVZKFQ3A6o— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) March 13, 2020
You know what, I finally read Dune this year after having it on my reading list for like 2 decades. Cool book.
I remember being more depressed than scared after reading 1984. So excited for Dune. I enjoyed the book, but not as much as others. I absolutely adore everything I’ve seen of Denis Villneuve’s work though.
