The idea that an expanded supporters group area and numbers are going to make up for drops in every other ticket price category seems like a long shot and a mathematically slim one as well. It almost seems like they have calculated that since they aren't going to invest in the team and the experience to attract higher price point buyers, they need bulk sales and volume to get their margins up.

Being mouthy doesn't mean they are wrong. The area behind the goal doesn't seem that full normally but then again its not like the supporters groups have run out of space in their area. The supporters groups get far more accomodation and consideration than any other fan or groups of fans even though their numbers don't seem strong enough to warrant an overhaul of the seating map. Frankly, the FO should have gone to all the club seat holders and asked them what they wanted first to stay as season ticket holders.

I’ve sent an email to the account rep asking for clarification as the charge was removed . I took a screen shot showing the increase.

It might be that the did this without reflecting the 35% loyalty savings in which case seats should be 35% cheaper.

Actually I always thought that CoachH had a pretty good take on the organization and the team, and it certainly isn’t “mouthy” to be upset over being moved to accommodate a group which if history is any measure, will not pan out.

This “new” management team is managing to piss off a lot of people who have supported the club for years. All they needed to do was to give advance notice of what they intended to do for the next season and the reason why. If they want to promote loyalty then be loyal to your base, include them, make them feel part of it.

    They didn’t.

Our Front Office is at it again with telling people where to move to and how much of a deal they will receive as long as the FO gets their way of conducting business.
Again, why are us supporters on the hook for our numbers when Canetti literally ran the FO and conducted business with little ethics and always made running the supporters section out of the stadium.
Once again, the mega theme keeps popping up, and it is that our FO, even under new people do not take considering our fans as the priority before hashing out new business plans. Which is the last thing I would do in business that is in the role of selling themselves, that is what this is for them. You must sell yourself and if the sports team plays good, people will feel like this is an actual association football club.

I made no mention of his measure as a bigsoccer poster now did I. Odd that is the first thing you bring up about this man. More so since I was referring to how the man is in person, which I have played indoor with this man. Had to tell him that a crafty 19 year old Argie was going to be the player at Glenn's ASG and not his slow white ass and of course his time as a Coach in HISD. Just like I was a Coach in HISD. I am just going by what I and his own players have heard, his mouthy routine when he is losing or is not getting his way. The truth only hurts when one does not tell it.

    Please elaborate?
I mean you used to travel deep with the supporters. Take your camera everywhere. Take pictures at all supporter events, tailgates, FO hosted parties for us supporters and certainly all Dynamo games to take specific tons of pictures of The Rob and us supporters. You imbedded yourself in these groups that you are now oddly saying show a history of not panning out. You were in the pan! How are you doing in the head these days you old Limey! Hahaha!!! Again, please elaborate on this comment you made. Thanks in advance.

Celt dude -- your being way too sensitive and defensive man. No one attacked you or the supporters groups. He doesn't say the supporters groups will not pan out -- he is saying the move by the front office will not pan out. It is a reasonable point of discussion.

I’m curious if you get a response which you favor but i do have an email that breaks down my BI-MONTHLY payments (which was odd) and the total definitely breaks down to the 7.23 increase. I used 17 games based on your info... I could be off if there were more home games. But for a family of 5, that’s a $615 increase they were sneaking by me as a “35% discount off current prices”.

it’ll be a loss for everyone.

Naw, I was at my desk ordering two Brooklyn pizzas online and then laughing at off base takes on us supporters from people that I always viewed as intelligent grown men.
All our goal as Houston supporters is to back our players. Period. We don't ask for any perks from our FO.
What I do get defensive about is when the FO shows up dickish once again, even under new management, their own business decisions somehow drag us supporters into the mix. Heck man! All I want to do is enjoy our Dynamo without any Front Office suits running interference. Just let the North End breath and we will be fine.

I would be curious to know if the current changes being made in the North end were done with any consultation with the supporters groups. Have you guys asked for more space?

    What’s with the defensive attitude?

I was speaking of my interaction with the man and opining that it is not mouthy to be pissed off that ones seats are being moved to accommodate an experiment. You brought him up.

I never “travelled deep” with any supporters group. I took a bus to Dallas twice in the past 12 years. I certainly never “embedded” with them nor have I ever tailgated with a supporters group.

I don’t wish this to devolve into a critique of the organization and it’s history with the SGs, but if you cannot see the difference in the number of people currently in the SGs compared to the past, then you’re not looking, but that is indeed the history

But let me elaborate further. In my conversation a few games back with the people who are currently making the decisions for the business end of the organization it was obvious to me that they intended to focus primarily on the supporters groups. To manufacture some kind of My City My Team kind of allegiance and market it.

Obviously that will not work if the product you are selling on the field is crap. People don’t go to the game to watch the supporters. Improve performance and be consistent in that performance and you’ll increase the number of people willing to pay full price.

My head and mental faculties are fine thanks, and as for Limey.....well for the past over 50 years since my service in Vietnam with the US Army, I’ve just considered England as somewhere I just happened to have been born. It’s as a nice place to visit occasionally and I do so to validate that I left for the right reasons.

Beyond the actual mathematics/marketing theory behind making such a strategic marketing campaign work, it implies they've given up on selling more expensive tickets in order to go for a bulk sale higher volume lower price type of fan composition, one they think won't be as elastic in demand based on team performance (econ double major term) - or put another way, they've been told to figure out how to move tickets to people who don't care about investment in the team or the performance, your typical Minor-league baseball crowd.

Why they think this will work, I dunno. Must have some data that says its easier to sell 10 $7 tickets than 1 $70 one.

Economically, the supporters group thing is a race to the bottom on pricing. Please don't take offense to this, none meant, but selling cheap SGs tickets and 713 promos just cheapens the overall value.

And the whole raise price then loyalty discount = same price you paid last year is just lame? Who thinks these things up and believes people won't notice the trick?

It's not worth too much more thought for someone like me (a non-STH anymore) to figure out since why should we care more than the ownership group does? Can't believe I may have to be a fan of Austin FC!! That's like Portland on steroids!! Hipster doofus all over!!

    Don't know Don.
I have faith in my buddies, the men that now are in charge. They will know and I can ask 'em.

New Front Office management seems to have a duality to them. Make changes but then still be heavy handed with loyal fans.
Personally, I envision a day that our Houston Dynamo is run with an intent to be an actual association football club. An American club that has owners and the leaders placing fan loyalty, the sport and our local kids playing the sport as the pillars of our crest and club! Literally should be that easy. Treat our people like Houstonians are most known for, hospitable and hard working. Then the business side has a place to call home base. Make moves from this position of strength and honor.

Yes I brought him up as it appears his sister or wife went off on our FO for the seat move and then as well stated that "she was done with the Dynamo".
It's mouthy to tell people you are done with our players and the sport all cuz of a seat move. That is just laughable! Talk about a white woman have first world problems! Hahaha! There are kids with worms in their stomach and living in filth every night in our own nation much less over seas and yet this Dynamo lady throws in the towel on her connection with her own team over our FO moving her seat assignment.
That will teach our FO how loyal you are chica, just don't ever go to a home game again after always having the same seats. Way to think that through lady!
    Right on Sgt.!

You really went to DEFCON 1 trying to draw an analogy between a “white woman” complaining about her seats being reassigned to kids with worms in their stomach. That’s a new one

Ever not get cheese on your cheeseburger in the drive thru. Shit happens. But not getting what you paid for comes in many forms.
Some people in our nation really flip out over small ass shit like that.
    Many do not.
I just role with life's punches. Obviously this woman went long on abandoning her soccer team all over seat placement. Which I find stupid at best. And recall what the man not the myth John Wayne said, "Life is hard. It's harder when you're stupid."

Exactly how far is it necessary to go to show ones loyalty?

Consider this - The team has been horrible since 2013 with the fluke exception of 2017 when it actually made the playoffs. The performance of the team is directly related to the steady loss of attendance due to apathy of seat holders and the loss of season ticket holders.

At least when Kinnear was running things you could be certain that a fairly significant signing (given the poor $$ he was given) would be made in the summer transfer window to make a push for the playoffs. But no more.

Ownership made it very clear that the actual strategy of this team is to find gems in the rough and develop them rather than actually purchase the finished product.

The players union publishes the salaries showing that once again the organization is the cheapest in the league, new management comes in with a plan that is not explained to the loyal season ticket holders who are suddenly hit with possible price increases, and told they are going to have to move from the seats they selected in 2012 in order to accommodate some new plan for the supporters groups. Those folks have had the same location for 8 seasons and have developed relationships and camaraderie with the folks around them.

Any reasoning person would think that the FO actually doesn't have any loyalty to its long time season ticket holders and the reaction is understandable. I wonder what would be the reaction of some in those supporters groups if the FO decided that they would move them to the opposite end of the stadium at the highest point under the awning. I'd think there would be a lot of grumbling and discontent which would be telegraphed on social media also. Just as there was a concerted effort in 2011 to get ODH to pay for transportation of some supporters to the LA final, loud voices sometime get heard.

    Understood.
Yet us supporters have indeed been moved, to wherever the FO wants to put us this week.
Deal breaker for us is that we are entirely here for our players. They play injured and save the one off Quioto type, are all good character men.
We might grumble over a heavy handed Front Office decision. But we aren't just gonna walk away from our team. That's what supporters in Chicago do after their own FO makes a move they don't like! Ha!

When you say “we aren’t just gonna walk away from our team” is that the groups themselves or people in the groups? Cause it seems to me there are a lot fewer people showing up to games in the groups than before, walked off or not.

(Cue the response from Celt where he gives a non-response based on me not attending games even though plenty of pictures on social media showing smaller SG turnout)

Meh, I had an Iraqi kid at Lee. He had the stoey of the day he went to the corner store with his best friend, they got some coke cans n walked back home. ISIS mortared his town and one momen his best friend is talking to him. The next minute his best friend's brain matter is all over him.
    Yeah, that kid had issues.
I guess for some of us, it is all about perspective in life.
I mean for sure, get pissed for a few minutes. The FO just moved your seats!
But to stay pissed for over the next hour. It's just odd. Just my opinion.

Absurd analogies or out of context comparisons of the week by Celt Texan:

    1) Sunday - compares seat relocation complaints to children with worms in their stomach
    2) Monday - compares seat relocation complaints to Iraqi kids’ town that was bombed by ISIS and sprayed adolescent brain matter all over the place

Tuesday Prediction- Celt compares seat relocation complaints to Jews being rounded up in 1940s Germany and sent to concentration camps

Those complaining about our Front Office relocating some of our people from this side of BBVA to the other. They can really complain when our team doesn't even play in Houston anymore.
