I’m not optimistic this was a good trade

There must be something going on with Raheem. I think we overpaid for him, but he is a perfectly fine off the bench guy who can play multiple positions. He supposedly will have a green card soon. Was there some kind of locker room problem last year that saw him sent out?

Yes, the locker room problem with Paunovic.
I thought that problem was solved.

At $400,000, we way overpaid for him.

At a third year defender who managed 7 games total (despite being a first round crap shoot pick in 2018), we were likely ripped off for him.

Yup, the guy hates the new logo like everyone else. Here he is pointing to the problem.

How often are the words Fire and Good trade used in a sentence unless accompanied by the word not?

Last year after RSL game he requested a trade, Nelson scolded him for not being a team player(for requesting a trade) and told him not to bother coming for training. Then they cleared out his locker. Then they brought him back this year for a bit. It was always going to be awkward, especially with Nelson not completely gone.

Only 18 days to the opener, plenty of time for more deals to fall through

    Signing players is hard.

Letting deals fall through is easy.

Maybe Calvo was impressed and had good things to say about Omsberg and helped persuade Wicky/Heitz to make this move .

Or should I take that to the optimism thread?

I asked in the Minnesota thread.
Nobody could remember them playing on the field at the same time, but they must have practiced together.

So, Aliseda, Giminez and Sekulic, amirite?

If these guys are in the fold, that's a pretty darn good recovery from a very shaky start.

Take that sh*t to the Pessimism Thread!

    It's awkward for us all!!!
It's an effort to shield his junk from that toxic logo.
Maybe? I wondered that too. Maybe he's got some upside we don't know about, certainly the center back depth wasn't very deep for the Fire. I don't see how this is an upgrade per se but at least possibly a fresh start for both players might do each good. I liked Edwards and don't blame him too much for not appreciating Pauno's man management which seems to be a bit uglier than I thought at the time? The kid was fast and threatening on the wing but maybe lacks the same technical skill that was available in other starters last season.

    This^^^^

To be fair, some of that is due to circumstances beyond their control. Some of is due to the late start in assembling the football operations team. And some is due to fans' anxiety over fielding a contender, mine included.

With deals falling through left, right and center (or, more likely, were never really going to happen in the first place) this IS the Pessimism Thread.

Although, shielding one's junk from toxicity is a pretty positive thing to do.

Looks like 3 of the 4 are happening after all. Of course I'm fully expecting them to get on the wrong flight and join another team at this point.
