  1. You are actually looking for something different in 2020?

    You fool.

There was a big offer for him, but West Ham want a good chunk more. I figure West Ham will cut that price enough come the winter time and at that point Chicharito will pick where he wants to go. Very confident in saying we will have one big price signing.

  4. Love Schweinsteiger but $5.6M is too much
With that you can pay for Gaitan, Niko and Katai.
I'd rather spend $6M on 3/4/5 good players than $6+ in one.

I don't think he will be offered a DP deal. I also don't think he would take less.

Yes $5.6M million is too much for where he's playing, that's NRod's fault. If he knew what he was doing he would have signed a couple CB's and Bastian would play in this natural position CM.

If it's $5.6M (Bastain) or $1.2M (Katai) they all cost the same (salary cap wise), the only difference is what the owner has to pay and he can't be bought down below in DP mark.

I wouldn't worry to much about Bastain, Niko, Gaitan and possibly Katai, because all of them will be gone at seasons end. So we will have three DP spots available next year, I believe Frankowski will/could be bought down below the DP range.

DP #1 BIG name/salary player (Chicharito?, Lewandowski?)
DP #2 Katai (if he returns)
DP #3 A Almiron type player

Who will probably be here from 2019 roster.

    Bronico
    Calvo
    Cleveland (back up at best)
    Frankowski
    Kappelhof
    Katai

    Lillard
    Mihailovic
    Reynolds II
    Sapong

What our new GM/President will need to get (Starters)
    DP #1 (Forward)
    DP #3 (Midfielder)
    1-Keeper
    2-Defenders
    1-Forward

What our new GM/President will need to get (Reserves)
    1-Keeper
    6-Defenders
    5-Midfielders
    3-Forwards

Whoever our new GM/President is, he has his work cut out for himself. GOD help us if NRod somehow is our GM/President for the 2020 season.

Pretty confident Gaitan will return. That will be one DP. I think Katai has an option which would make him a TAM player, but I don't know yet what the Fire will do. They better keep him if he's a TAM.

Definitely trying to sign some younger DPs, but willing to pay for it. Obvious exception for Chicharito, not sure what else could be out there. Lewandowski is not leaving Bayern so that's a non story.

If we don't make the playoffs, I still think Dax returns. Possibly at a reduced price. He is happy here now and his wife even got a job in the city now.

Gaitan has been a disappointment. Massively talented but has only had an impact in a handful of games.

His flopping and lack of hustle have been noticeable.

I hope we keep Dax for another year if a reduced cost.

Dax’s option automatically picks up if we make the playoffs. At the beginning of the season he was probably leaving if no playoffs, now I think he stays. Big change in his level of happiness here.

So no playoffs this year.:) If he stays it better not be for what he's making this year ($700,000).

I would think he will not be asking for more and is accepting of a pay cut or else his wife needs to find a new job again and she will not be happy about that.

The Fire asked him around the deadline if he wanted a trade to a contender and he refused it.

More? :confused:o_O If he asks for more he should be cut before he finishes his sentence. Pay cut? Yes. A pay cut of at least 400-500k

Disappointed!?! The dude has 4 goals and 7 assists in 17 games? MLS is a more physical league than he was playing in Spain and not only do MLS defenders hack down talented players as their main defensive move but the MLS referees
don't call things the same way they do elsewhere.... anywhere in the world.

It's great to finally have a true #10 in the squad and the first since Grazzini was let go because he didn't want to make the league minimum.

I agree with all of that, but when I look at his obvious talent and the way he disappears from games for long, long stretches, I just see how much more influential he can could be.

Maybe "disappointed" was a bit harsh.

I blame Pauno's hoof ball on that. Everyone would look much better if we stopped playing hoof ball.

Pauno's good at making players look worse than they are.

If this was true, he should say so. In public, to the media, and take an actual stand.

He may be "fed up," but his play on the field almost entirely toes the company line, as he sits back in central defense and only on occasion bothers to venture forward.

He may be "fed up," but he likes cashing those $107,000+ a week checks for sitting in central defense and playing well, but barely above well.
(I really thought he could be one of the best CBs in the league when he moved back there. Not at $5.6 million a year, but he may not even be the best CB on the team)

Keep in mind that Bastian Schweinsteiger has been one of my favorite players in the world over the past 15 years or so. His play for Germany in 2008 Euro (red card notwithstanding), World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012 was fantastic.

However, he should be THE leader of this team. If he does not speak, nobody will speak up.

He wanted to go to Hauptman about it but wanted Dax to come with him. Dax said that since him and Pauno were starting to get along, he did not want to go on with it. I don’t think Basti ever went forward with it after that but I’m not sure. I know it’s no secret in the locker room that he does not like Pauno.
