All I can say is good luck with that. You're more likely to be eaten by a shark than for anyone in our government, if it can so be called, to be punished for anything.
Yeah, good luck with that. If people dumped after news first came out of China of a strange new virus they can always say they sold on public knowledge.
Well, looks like two Republican senators who were receiving briefings on the outbreak sold before markets collapsed. https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/19/politics/richard-burr-coronavirus-comments/index.html https://www.thedailybeast.com/sen-kelly-loeffler-dumped-millions-in-stock-after-coronavirus-briefing
Lots of us saw this coming. Me, I stockpiled soup, didn't occur to me to short the market or buy telecommuting stock. Profiting from a pandemic seems, I don't know, wrong? Of course, I'm not a senator or anything, but I can't imagine a scenario where I would betray my responsibilities to make a buck.
Her assets are in a blind trust and she did not attend the January 24 meeting that triggered the behavior of the other four senators. And the biotech stock she sold went up in value after she sold, so the timing was not very smart. But if she's guilty -- yes, she should go.
I did say "may". I hope that the SEC looks very closely at every legislator and executive branch constituent and their transactions over the past three months...
We're going to lose a few weeks of this season in any case. MLS says that we're back on 10May20, however, some states may well be on lockdown at that time. Probably we still have some travel restrictions, and states that have gotten past the worst of this virus outbreak will be leery of letting people from other states that still have issues come to visit. In any case, I'll be surprised if MLS can restart their season by 10May. For a number of reasons, I hope that we are "getting back to normal" sometime in May. I've got vacation plans for May and June. I'd hate to have to cancel those. (And more seriously, a lot of people will be hurt badly by the economics of shutting down their businesses for several months.) Hoping for the best for everyone. Go Quakes!! Go Humans!! Trust me, I'm sure she did along with lots of democrat senators yet un-named. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
In theory , they could possibly develop some type of cohesion with more training while they wait for games. If they aren’t allowed to train though, they won’t improve. In reality, if their last game is any indication , I don’t think they will get better.
Let's face it, if the Quakes ever get to take the field again in 2020 we'll all be elated and it won't matter how well they perform.
It's going to be from those who were on these committees getting the briefings. I say they should either resign, or donate the difference of what the stock was when they sold it to what it is now to a charity helping with the crisis.
One that will very quickly get swept under the rug because it is an iceberg. They won't want to expose themselves. Have you ever noticed that many congress people go into office poor and come out 20 years later rich, all on a $120k/year salary?
So, based on this very scientifically accurate chart, we're screwed and would be better off with Dom as our coach: https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/fmcvya/how_does_a_managers_baldness_impact_on_his_win/
Now it's Ron Johnson from WI (who is a true moron) and Jim Inhofe from OK. "Lock him up" (after a fair trial and sentencing, of course!)
So, training for MLS teams not happening until at least 4Apr20. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020/03/13/mls-institutes-team-training-moratorium-through-march-15 This is today's news. The league still expects to restart on 10May20, which I continue to believe is wildly optimistic. Probably end of June or even later is more likely. Stay safe and healthy everyone, and watch re-runs!
