we should be thinking about how we can rid San Jose of John Fisher as fast as possible. trouble is, most folks will either walk away quietly (we've seen many long time fans announce in here that they've given up on season tix, sadly)...then there's apparently a smattering of people still willing to fork over their $$$'s for fisherball. I would love to see more interest in booting fisher. which means boycott. maybe a "Fisher Out!" protest at Quakes HQ. as long as there's a critical mass of folks willing to line fishers pockets, we should expect status quo.
I love San Jose...that's part of the problem. Fisher is a one man wrecking ball, dashing hopes and making our city a laughingstock.
You’re asking a guy who’s commenting in the off-season on a Sunday morning. With the season schedule on my calendar already.
This video looks like it was filmed by the same people who do videos for the Quakes. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case. Other than that the closest connection to the Quakes in the video is that one of the dancers is wearing an athletics shirt.
I think according to Don, it is irrelevant that we don't have stadium or jersey sponsors, have the same roster that failed to make the 2019 playoffs, because we have Jesse...
Don, you're the best of guys but as long as you're straddling the fence between the truth and your insider perks and status with all the rights and privileges pertaining thereto, I think your view is cloudy and muddled at best. we are being swindled by this guy, where's your outrage?
LOL. "Insider perks and status"? I pay more for my season tickets than you do. And the FO will call you back, too, if you call them. Here's my secret for good relations with Jesse, by the way. I never ask him for inside info about who he's targeting. We tend to instead talk Bills and Ravens.
you definitely pay more than me for season tix, I don't have season tix. that's the point. and I won't be buying any, barring a sea change. maybe, if enough people say no to the fisher swindle, it will force his hand. he will either have to try, or sell. but as long as people keep ponying up their dollars for fisherball, he has no incentive to change and so we get a lackluster off season like this one which has been completely flat.
I fall in that group....when first moved to Bay Area went to a couple Quake games....then the following season they were gone. In 2008 became a season ticket holder at BS then at Avaya...2019 did not renew. Told myself that I was not going to attend a game or buy any merchandise until I got the feeling that ownership cared.....at the rate this off season is going I will be watching all home games on TV and not attending.....in in the grand scale of things I don't think Fisher gives a sh*t if I go to the games or not....
something about this off season is particularly hard to take. 2018 we finish worst in the league, then bring in a good coach, add a little player depth and make some progress in 2019. then comes the epic end-of-the-season collapse and 2019 is added to the long list of failed seasons, since '08. the big take away was that we got better and building on that wouldn't have taken much, one big-time DP signing, preferably an attacking midfielder, a few mls journeyman-level players, shoring up our defense, adding some scoring quality. just a few player moves would've been the sign Quakes fans were looking for. folks around here would've been ecstatic. instead, in typical fisher-era style, we lose a couple of starters (i.e. Cummings & Godoy), do absolutely nothing at all to improve the quality and strength of the team. not one single move. we lose whatever momentum and goodwill had been built up based on the high points of last season, and prepare for this season with a weaker roster than last years! Matias must be shaking his head by now, fully aware of what it means to be a part of this fisher fleecing operation. I expect there are many of us that have given up on season tickets based on fishers' utter indifference. such a shame...heartbreaking really.
Neither Cummings nor Godoy were starters for the Quakes in the second half of the season, the rest of your post is spot on. I am trying to remain optimistic and think maybe (maybe?) Almeyda has a few more moves in the works.
The spin from the front office is that Rios and Fierro (added in July, if memory serves) didn't have enough time to 'get with the program' last year, but that they will both set the world on fire this year - so we don't need any new blood. Color me skeptical.
Do we have a link to this so-called "spin"? The previous charge against the FO was their silence, which is intrinsically at odds with the offense of disseminating false "spin." Which is it?
\ Don, you're being a troll. It was either a twitter or other communication from the Quakes, and it's probably in the preceding 24 pages, but I'm not going to do your work, and this isn't a damn court, so I don't have to PROVE anything to you. Are you on retainer for the Quakes, or are you just being sort of a jerk here? Everybody else on the boards seems to know what I'm talking about, so your comments are not particularly useful.
Calling me a troll doesn't obviate the logical inconsistency between bemoaning the FO's silence and critiquing their (supposed) publicly stated position. If there was a link, as you say, it should not be too much trouble for you to provide it, but if it is indeed difficult for you to find, it is likely difficult for others, as well. I don't recall seeing it, but if "everybody else" did, I'm sure someone will provide the link, and we can cease bemoaning the thereby disproved silence from the FO. Having a different perspective, and employing logic in the bargain, does not make one a troll, at least in my understanding of the term, which requires an element of dis-ingenuousness or bad faith which is absent here.
I haven't bemoaned the silence. I only want to hear real news, not happy talk, so silence is fine by me. Perhaps I should ask you to "prove" that I've been inconsistent in this matter?
And yes, you are trolling, because instead of offering insight, lately most of your posts have simply been to poke holes in others' arguments and to extoll the virtues of San Jose's (both teams) management.
I posted my remarks after hearing from both you and @Quakes05 on the same subject, without quoting either of you. Your compatriot is renowned for complaining about the lack of news from the FO. You're taking this too personally.
You will have to forgive me. My father was an attorney, and growing up in that house, having to present evidence for every argument was rather tiresome and annoying...
Being amused at the sky-is-falling mentality around this place is not trolling. Everyone needs to Chill Out. I've tried to convey the message in an amusing way, but let me be more blunt: Chill Out. Everything will work itself out.
