Happy New Year's/Decade everyone!! Per Onefootball, Club America are offering Chilean Nico Castillo to MLS. 9 goals in 26 appearances; not great but could be a boost to our squad.
I don’t have a problem with other fans watching other leagues at all. It’s just not for me. I watched several FC Porto games one year, because I could get them on TV easily, and having been to Porto, I have a soft spot for them, and I like the way that they play. Maybe I’ll see if I can tune into Saprissa matches? In the meantime, our team is crap, and we aren’t getting any better. Dang! Go Quakes!! - Mark
A semi-arthritic septuagenarian could be a boost to our squad at this point. Might be good for at least a couple deflections off his walker and maybe a few sympathy points that make it past the VAR. Apologies to any seniors out there. No offense intended. Which brings me back to my original point in a earlier post. Times a wasting. Let’s stop settling for all this mediocrity and demand a better product. I believe we have one of the top coaches in all of MLS, but at this point all the front office is doing is trying to put lipstick on a pig. Not a good look. And no one, not even Matias, can find lasting success with that. #soccercitydeservesbetter
I’m older than @Goodsport and I agree with you. We need good players, and young players, and I don’t much care where they come from. (Though of course, I have ideas.) Go Quakes!! - Mark
I totally, 100% agree with you. My suggestion was merely based on the Quakes current modus operandi: running a franchise on the cheap, all while obtaining second rate talent. Like yourself, I'd like nothing more than for our franchise to shoot for the stars in 2020. Alas, I'll continue to NOT hold my breath..
I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. If there's anything you can count on with MLS officiating it's that you can't count on it.
Chris Smalling got his nickname "Mike" when newly hired Louis Van Gaal accidentally referred to his new club's Vice Captain's name being "Mike Smalling" at a press conference in advance of the Man United vs. San Jose Earthquakes friendly at Avaya a few years back. And yes, he's playing well at Roma.
Therefore, I wasn’t wrong in naming him in a Quakes related thread... These are the types of talents MLS teams should go after and sign because until they do , they will be considered a retirement league for the over 35 year olds like the Gerrard’s and Lampard’s of the world.
you're exactly right, of course. and yes, we should demand a better product. we go through this every year but there's not much appetite for any kind of organized protest. we'll probably just see the slow, continuous decline in interest and sth sales...it's a painful, tedious march to complete irrelevance and unsustainability, sad to see, especially in an area where there is so much potential.

That’s a picture of the Ultras in the upper stands if I’m not mistaken. And they are filling the rows to the very top. Was this picture taken in 2015? The Ultras haven’t looked as good until Wondo joined their ranks.
