Bingham, Feltscher, Steres, Pipo, Acosta; Corona, Klestjan, Lletget; Pavon, Zubak, Katai Zubak just finished a header 1-0
We look as vulnerable as ever on defensive set pieces. They hit the crossbar on a header off a corner. I missed the goal. Someone describe? Zubak actually look useful or just easy finish off others work? As for the starting line up, looks full strength other then: -Chicharito no work permit -JDS apparently nursing injury -Insua? Surprised he's not playing. Acosta is starting instead.
Good cross from the left. Didn't see who made the cross. Zubak was in the middle of the box and drifted off his defender's shoulder and made a perfect header.
I think it was a cross from Pavon. Zubak was sandwiched between two defenders and just made a good jump and finish. If he can finish in the air like that, he has some usefulness with Pavon and Kitai on the wings.
2-1 43 min NE gets on the board.Came down our left side...not sure if it was Pipo or Acosta. NE player flubbed a shot. Looked like Bingham was mispositioned and it went back post. There was some confusion on maybe the back post player being offside but after consulting the lineman they counted the goal Half time 2-1
Only caught the replay but looks like Acosta got beat by the player who flubbed the shot. Hard sometimes to figure things out with no jersey numbes....
Pavon's first touch to bring that ball down and one-time it was great. And I think it was Lletget with the pass over the top.
Yup, it was a good ball from Lletget and great touch by Pavon. Pavon is very good at getting himself in the box and skilled enough to get a cross, pass and shot off. He is going to be a dangerous man this season.
second half galaxy changes: Acosta off. Araujo on and Rolf moves to left back. Zubak comes off for a trialist forward (missed his name). I think that is it.
This Pavon looks miles better than last year's Pavon. Easily our best player on the field. Sacha making some smart passes out there. The trialist is named Wild.
We look best when countering through Pavon. He made a great run and cross and Katai just couldn't get on the end of it. Could have been a great goal.
Dime by @SLletget 👌 Finish by @96Kichan 🔥 pic.twitter.com/grvo84gV6a— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) February 10, 2020 Already getting play we didn't get last year because Zlatan cannot make that run into space several times a game (and remember how down we were with Lletget last season? Look at that pass!)
Line up after a millions subs something like this: ------------------------------------Wild----------------------------- Koreniuk-------------------------------------------------E. Alverez--- -----------------------Smart---Corona--Cuello------------------------ Traore--------------------Harvey---------Depuey-----------Araujo -----------------------------------T vom Steeg--------------------------- Not near 100% sure on who is playing where between Wild and the backline.
This has been a fun exercise but we are not going to get many meaningful MLS minutes out of these guys on the field right now. The Galaxy need 3-4 signings of players that can competently play in MLS this year. They're not going to get it out of these scrubs. We need some new signings or this season will be lost before it begins. I really believe that.
If we dont at least add better quality defenders then agree season is lost. Bingham would be serviceable behind a well organized/tough back line, but the combination of him and out shaky back 4 is a recipe for, well, last season. (And no, Zlatan departure wont fix defensive problem.)
Defense looked vulnerable once again. It was not terrible but it's "just" New England, not LAFC or Atlanta. Feltscher looked sharp on the offensive side. Steres was solid. Lletget had a great game and was very effective as a playmaker. I thought Kljestan didn't do much, Seba was way better than him at breaking the lines which was a little bit surprising. Pavon was the easy MVP. Great finish by Zubak, who has now two goals in two games. I'm still not sold but why not? It was more like this : Koreniuk Alvarez Wild Cuello Corona Harvey Smart Traore DePuy Araujo Vom Steeg Traore was hands down our best player. Vom Steeg did some nice saves. A little bit disappointed about Koreniuk who tried to force things too much. Wild doesn't look bad but I didn't see something special.
