Kevin Durant buys small stake in Philadelphia Union. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...nt-buys-minority-stake-mls-philadelphia-union Hot take for next athlete to obtain stake in a MLS team... Baker Mayfield If the Browns ever have a winning season again, even 9-7, Mayfield will get: -a 10-year, kajillion dollar contract -5% stake in the Crew -one side of the new stadium named after him However, "winning" doesn't necessarily mean finishing ahead of the Steelers and 80 year old Ben Roethlisberger. (Full disclosure: lifelong Browns fan, which means, of course. never bitter at all.)
Being an "OLD" man!!! I have fond memories of the Browns from the "WAY" back days of the mid fifties! Only three tv stations on the tv! The Browns and "The" Ohio State Buckeyes! Both with "Lou the Toe" Groza and "Hop Along" Cassady!
Baker Mayfield is a twit. His name should never be associated with the Crew for any reason, ever. (Full Disclosure: Not a Browns fan, hater of entitled athletes that aren't even very good)
Overrated...way overdrafted...likely has at least one more Cheesecake Factory-type "episode" in his Browns career.
galaxy-release-aleksandar-katai-after-wifes-social-media-posts Katai and Galaxy part ways. Social media strikes again.
Eh, firing a player for what his wife said is a slippery slope. It seems to imply he should take control of his wife and not let her speak.
It's not merely a slippery slope, it's a straight descent into the abyss. Women are either autonomous beings with their own independent thoughts, or they are not. Pick one or the other. No player should be held responsible for what his wife says. And no wife should be treated as the mere extension of her husband.
Or that MLS expects everyone that represents its brand to abide by some basic human decency. But yeah, Phil Anschulz prolly just wants her to get back in the kitchen and make him a sammich.
Damage control and labor policy are two separate things. The league and player agreed to part ways but will every spouse be subject to the same scrutiny?
My only comment here is to the concept (not the constitutional right) of free speech. If it's only "free" for certain beliefs and thoughts, then it isn't very free is it? That means that personally, I give a lot of leeway here, even if it is something I might personally find reprehensible. That doesn't mean I agree with it. It doesn't mean I won't debate the point. And no, I've not read the player's wife's comments--I have no desire to do so. The concept of free speech does not require me to listen to it.
