Mexico is moving the correct way on pro/rel, however temporary it might be - If Yedlin needs something artificial like pro/rel to make him care, that's on him not the structure of the league he plays in.
We have playoffs for our chosen artificial reason to care about points in each individual game (and you know, things like pride in actually caring about the work you do every day).

I will happily die on the hill of pro/rel is an ancient asinine idea.

Not sure what this has to do with Yedlin but I also don't care. I think I've described that providing lower division teams with an incentive like promotion is very practically and structurally important for non-artificial reasons. It also provides a structure to motivate teams and owners to be competitive all the way to the end of the season. This system does need a unified divisional system and not separate corporations with competing goals and priorities. So it can't work here. That doesn't mean that it doesn't work and have non-artificial benefits in other leagues/countries.

I have a hard time thinking that none of you would immensly enjoy seeing NYRB being relegated to a second division. Just to say.

While that may be true, DC United probably would have spent more time in the USL than the RedTurds over the last 10 years.

Well that's the way it goes, set up a competitive team and you won't run that risk, set up a mediocre team and you will have mediocrity in return. Unfortunately for us, these last years NYRB as a club have been on another level overall.

I like pro-red myself but I see no way for it coming about for many reasons with the first being MLS single-entity structure.

"None" is an awfully big word.
    Relegated?
The Laughing Cows were having very serious attendance issues last season and, presumably, this one as well.
I can't wait for Red Bull Korporate to pull the plug on this failed American experiment and refocus that investment money towards an A-League team instead.
Don't laugh. Once NYC gets it's own place, they will absolutely bury the Cows in their shared market.

Interesting point of view. I don't see Red Bull pulling the plug from a US market, unless for some reason MLS collapses or becomes really low in competitiveness. Other than the bigger teams they have, New York, Salzburg, Leipzig, Red Bull also has a of minor league team, Red Bull Bragantino (merger of Red Bull Brasil and Clube Atletico Bragantino), they also had Red Bull Ghana, but they stopped running the team.
For some reason I think this could happen instead for NYCFC and their sheikh owner if the oil goes towards a huge crisis in the future (I mean, worse than the current one).

Don't forget they have two teams in Formula 1 racing -- Red Bull and what is now called Alpha Tauri (after a RB clothing line) which formeraly was Toro Rosso. When you sell shit, you have to constantly promote and offer new "branding" experiences. See, Trump, Donald for further examples of such grifting.

They tried having teams in NASCAR but they failed at it. Miserably. It was glorious.

Lots of games on FS1 and I assume FS2. Will be interesting to see how the level of play holds up. Expecting a lot of rust, even on traditionally strong teams.
