French literally meaning "born." But, in common usage, it refers to a woman's maiden name. So Ertz was Julie Johnston, hence JJ. It's the nickname that I think she still goes by from many of the players.
French is actually one of the languages I am conversant in but I did not know that word. Thanks for adding to my vocabulary. The only drawback is that I am unlikely to be visiting Hatti, France, New Orleans or Montreal any time soon. Age has greatly reduced my traveling.
I wanted Rapinoe and Lloyd out but Heath was 3d choice. BTW Press just chipped the goalie... great touch... She never got the credit she deserved under Ellis
OK attendance but I kind of expected better with the importance of the match and being against Mexico and being in California.
Horan reminds me a bit of a player I coached some time ago. She looks "thick" but you know it is solid. The girl I am talking about was 114 pounds at 14 and probably had less body fat than just about anybody else on the team. She once got hurt (sprained her ankle badly) and I asked her if she wanted to walk off or be carried and she asked to be carried. I picked her up and almost dropped her she was so heavy. I staggered to the sideline with her just so I would not seem weak by being unable to carry a 13 (at the time) year old girl. After that if a player wanted to be carried I had two or four of her teammates do the work. I did not want to drop any one of them and did not want to hurt myself again.
FT. 4-0. Job done. Olympics bound. Not bad, but not this team at its best. We also might need some finishing practice.
