big sanchez fan here...but...this is so true. sanchez has always had skills - repeatedly scored multiple goals /game on the international level when she first started. but her limited physical gifts have reduced similar effectiveness as she gets older. i really hope she does well, but i fully expect her to be just ok in the nwsl. she could thrive in mexico or spain and then we’d restart the familiar war on these boards about how ussoccer hates skillful players.
She did looked pissed. It’s not like Washington was bad. But at the same time she probably wanted Portland.
Uh oh... Mallory Pugh to SBFC omg! #NWSL #NWSLDraft— Rə__ydurT (@young_jamaixan) January 16, 2020 Nothing official yet, but rumblings that Spirit have traded Mallory Pugh as part of the big trade with Sky Blue.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) January 16, 2020 I hope Mal Pugh ends up going to Sky Blue. Think a change in club will do nothing but benefit her as a player #NWSLDraft— Mindful Footy Stats (@MindfulFootball) January 16, 2020
2nd round: 1. Orlando - Konya Plummer 2. New Jersey - Kaleigh Riehl 3. Utah - Kate Del Fava 4. Washington - Natalie Jacobs 5. Orlando - Phoebe McClernon
If SBFC lands Mallory for 3 picks in this draft and a first round next year then Alyse Alahue should be given a raise. She have completely turn this team around and even I might be tempted to get a season ticket for SBFC which I haven't done since WPS years.
Orlando is liking defenders. Smart in a way, since they needed defensive help, but IDK about the wisdom of having a backline of rookies.
Those veterans were the crew that shipped 50+ goals last year... I think it would've been wiser to trade for better veterans than to bank on mixing the existing veterans with rookies.
6. Chicago - Julia Bingham 7. Chicago - Camryn Biegalski 8. Washington - Averie Collins 9. Houston - Bridgette Andrzejewski End of the 2nd round.
Yeah I don't get the strategy here. If defense is your big focus, I'll rather they looked to target one or two gaurantee starters and if not trade these mid level picks to teams like NCFC to get an established player. As it stands right now they will probably only sign one or two of these 542 defenders that they drafted.
3rd round: 1. Chicago - Zoe Morse 2. New Jersey - Amanda McGlynn 3. Orlando - Cheyenne Shorts 4. Houston - Chloe Castaneda 5. Washington - Katie McLure
I cannot wait for the day when the pro teams find and develop young players, so they won't need to go to high school and college teams. It's just better for the top players to be surrounded by and competing against comparable top talent and developed by better coaches at a young age. Also, it's difficult assessing talent at the college level with the competition level being so different and inconsistent.
6. Chicago - Ella Stevens 7. Portland - Meaghan Nally 8. Orlando - Abi Kim 9. N. Carolina - Sinclaire Miramontez End of the 3rd round.
Whatever happened to Taylor Racioppi from Duke? She graduated in 2018, but didn't make the NWSL? She was a top recruit heading into college.
Kaiya McCullough my Bruin got picked!! Roomates with Ash Sanchez, CONFIRMED. Teagan Miccah will be next
