I’ll get this thread started. Anyone know the current draft order. I think Chicago has a bunch of first round picks.
Likely to sign in Europe under current rules: I would love to consider @NWSL but hard to do that when rules do not favor international talent. This article explains some of the reasons in great form. Maybe one day 🤷🏼♀️Me encantaría considerar la @NWSL como opción pero es difícil hacerlo cuando las reglas no nos favorecen https://t.co/dae9JoOBHX— Deyna Castellanos (@deynac18) November 1, 2019
Has the date been announced for the draft? Does anyone have the full draft order? Of course, we're still waiting to see if Sacramento is indeed joining the league for 2020.
Not sure if they have an official date. But if you look at the past drafts, its usually the second week of January or roughly middle of the month.
I think Catarina Macario may be eligible to declare for the NWSL draft. If she declares, there will be a scramble -- and Chicago with a multitude of high draft picks has the best opportunity to get her. If I were Chicago, I'd offer two of my 2020 first round draft picks to get Macario. Two first round picks and I'd toss in McCaskill if need be to get Macario. Would that be enough?
Press --> Kerr --> Macario? I like that line of succession. Also does she require an international spot? That could effect some teams decisions on her.
Who has the number 1 pick? Kind of reminds me of nfl football draft day movie where Cleveland Browns traded 3 1st round draft picks for the number 1.
Here's the order, though we don't know about Sacramento yet. https://thestudyofsports.com/nwsl/nwsldraft20.html
They have pick #'s 4-6. How many would it take to get to # 1? I'm guessing you'd have to ask how productive have those picks been in past draft years?
Yep and depends on how deep this upcoming draft will be. And who can replace Sam Kerr and other needs in different positions.
Its usually on Thursday or Friday during the United Soccer Coaches Convention, which is January 15-19, 2020. So look to January 16 or 17.
But my understanding is they're not doing it at the Convention. Could it possibly be because the date they're going to do it isn't during the Convention?
Hmm, I hadn't heard that. All of this reminds me: is the NWSL still looking for a communications director? Didn't they hire someone at some point?
Well we know when the draft is now, but I'm more confused than ever about the draft order. http://www.nwslsoccer.com/news/article/2020-nwsl-draft-to-take-place-in-baltimore-md-on-january-16
Well, since the link was posted two posts above, the order on the news article has already been corrected, so there's that at least.
