Honestly that montreal kit is pretty slick. That fire jersey is about as unimaginative as their powerpoint crest
Agreed! I'm cool with each team using the flag as a jock tag or on the back. I dont want any of the teams to make a cascadia kit though.
Amusing that the Montreal kit photo has an American flag. Even more amusing that Chicago’s kit has two Motorola logos!![emoji16]
It is a real shame that this was the year Adidas decided to try this ridiculous template of stripes on one shoulder. It nearly ruins an otherwise near-perfect Portland secondary kit. That white with the green accents is something I would wear in a second (and I'm not a Portland fan).
As I've said to some friends of mine, I don't mind each team being required to have an all-white kit even if it's ONLY worn in the event of a real color clash. The Portland-Seattle game at Providence Park last season had dark green vs rave green because Seattle couldn't wear its black with Portland's primary. The all-white kit could be the primary kit (see the Galaxy), or it could simply be a kit to avoid a color clash. My issue is that nearly 75-80% of MLS teams have either an all-white primary or secondary. It gets boring. SKC and NYCFC wear light blue, Columbus wears gold, Houston wears orange, and Seattle wears rave green. Other than that, nearly every other team has a dark and a white kit. Here are just a few alternate ideas for what teams could do with change kits if they had a boring all-white option to wear only in the event of a kit clash. Atlanta - Peach San Jose - Gold Chicago - Gold Miami - Pink Portland - Red (like they did a few years ago) or gold Minnesota - Light Blue
Mockups of the full Chicago and Montreal kits: And a black shorts option for Montreal (this is what I’m hoping to see):
Im going to guess that Chicago will use yellow or red numbers. FWIW, looking closer at the team announcements, they say they're revealing their primary jersey on Wednesday. Nothing about the secondary I've seen.
The Montreal jersey looks nice - if they do black shorts it'll be a slick look. I'm pretty sure the Fire will get the monochrome blue look, but I would love to see gold shorts (with red striping) to bring out what little color there is in the new badge, or red shorts to make the pinstripes pop. As it stands, it's an pretty decent look for the jersey that could've been better (will be interesting to see what color the numbers are), and a pedestrian look overall with the blue shorts/socks.
Impact away is my favorite thus far. Sorry to see Acura leave the Crew. Curious who their next sponsor will be. Other ones I like are San Jose's city flag one and the Red Bulls red and black one. The Revs look like their designer ran out of ideas. I hate the effect around their sponsor logo.
Mario Lopez has tweeted this, seems like LAFC has a Target logo on their sleeve now? Besides that, the new fonts in gold look pretty sharp! 2•5•20 @LAFC pic.twitter.com/RdnA0jmiaB— Mario Lopez (@mariolopezviva) February 5, 2020
Interesting read on The Athletic Who deserves blame for bad kits? An inside look at MLS and Adidas’ design process
Pablo Maurer with another must read article (paywalled) regarding the jersey design process including adidas documentation. Should be stickied for every jersey thread from here on out IMO https://theathletic.com/1586210/202...-adidas-design-process/?source=shared-article ETA: WarrenWallace was quicker.
The gold letters and numbers on the black does look sharp. I’m not a fan of the font, though. Well, the letters look fine, but that “0” looks too swirly. The 8’s look even worse. I liked the last font, and I don’t know why they thought they needed to change.
If you like it, then you shoulda put a WING on it... pic.twitter.com/kNq3gUlkXd— Minnesota United FC (@MNUFC) February 6, 2020

I spoke too soon. Red Bulls slightly edges out MTL for my favorite, and SJE looks pretty bad with the sponsor placed so low. Wish there was some way to just have them go blank and transfer that sponsor to Columbus. Seattle is frustrating this fan. I'm glad I went for the camo jersey last year. That turned out well. Nashville, DC and Columbus don't look bad (though it remains to be seen who CLB's new sponsor is). The rest of them, for the most part, are a bit too busy with the fancy graphics, imho. NYRB best, SJE worst.
