I see no reason they can't beat Montreal. In fact, I expect 9 points over the next 3. What the hell is going on?!?!
Solid win! Thought Glesnes had a very good game. Anybody miss Gaddis? Wish Curtin would have given more rest to Bedoya so his legs don’t fall off later this season. Supporters Shield/Champion League a possibility?
Much better second half. I think even if Montreal wasn’t down a man we could have beat them. They where gassed by the end of the game. Also with his 2 goals tonight Kasper is now tied for 5th with Conor Casey with 22 goals.
They are at 2 points per game right now. 2nd in the league. With MLS owing them 3 home dates, too. They actually have a real shot at the Asterisk Shield.
Now we are sure to hit a slump. On another note, rumors of Aaronson to RB Salzburg per Kristian Dyer twitter (seems to have a RB connection thru New York).
On that note I would think any slumpage would be directly proportional to Fontanas ability to pic up the slack. FYI His bio says "Growing up, Fontana's soccer role model was Pavel Nedved" so we know his soccer IQ is off the charts.
Bedoya scores after Wooten drops the ball at his feet. Bedoya runs away and Wooten doesn't even respond/celebrate. They don't like each other? I'm sure it's nothing but I noticed it.
I would think with the travel restrictions, A sale to Salzburg would include a loan back to Philly through the end of December. I believe Austria takes a winter break, which would give Aaronson time to quarantine, settle in (move across the world). Also would allow him to partake in a preseason of sorts with them as well. That's best case scenario. Next scenario: Fontana's recent play would allow the Union to sell Aaronson, give Fontana more minutes, and subsequently free up minutes for DeVries.
Yes, I noted this as well. In fact, I've seen this for a while from him. If I were him, I'd probably have a poor attitude as well. He needs to finish his chances, he needs to earn his salary. Often times, when we fail in life or sport, the first instinct is to blame others. He's not getting enough minutes, he's not getting enough service, the formation doesn't suit him... whatever the excuses may be. You can see it in the body language and read it on his face that he is not happy. Just imagine working with someone who makes 5x your salary and stinks. That is the reality of this league. We overpaid for a stiff. It seems like Tommy Smyth can't stand him as a player. Just bashes him like no other player on the team so far as I can tell. That said, he did give him credit for having assists. Some were fortuitous, but they all count. I want to see some passion from him. I want to see someone who congratulates his teammate for the goal, even though he would have like to have taken the shot over Bedoya. Maybe I'm being unfair to the guy and I am making assumptions based off of what I see on the field and his interactions with teamates.
I think he was just trying to look confident that he didn't handle the ball but not too confident and arouse the refs suspicion.
Saw that too, he also had the same the look in the previous game after laying one off for Kasper to bang home. Hope it's just frustration that he hasn't been able to score.
