Hungary's goalkeeper mistake... and Hungary scored again. France scored ahead and Portugal tie again. Crazy games today!
This is really a fortunate side of the draw. Both England and Germany are flawed teams. I hope Germany will beat England. I don't like it one bit they have host advantage throughout. All other teams don't play in their host stadium again.
Let's not count the chickens before they hatch. One job and one job only right now, get ready to play and decisively defeat the Czechs.
Wow.. so glad Oranje’s R16 opponent was sorted our earlier. Can’t imagine the emotional roller coaster due to the ups and downs of Group F standing! Oranje truly came up as true “winner” today. Avoided Portugal in the next round. Have a do-able path to SF. And won’t face the on-form teams (Italy, Belgium and France) until Final. But… one day at a time. Can’t think too far ahead. Czech first. Win or go home!!!
The happenings in group F brings back memories of the last matchday of the Eredivisie, in which Louis van Gaal's AZ had the easy task with a draw at already relegated Excelsior to clinch the title and keep both PSV and Ajax at bay. With a defeat either Ajax or PSV could clinch the title. During the matches the title swapped several times from AZ to Ajax to PSV etc. A rollercoaster and in the end the unlikely thing happened that AZ lost and both PSV and Ajax won, and Ajax was the champion, until the last strike by Cocu gave PSV 1 goal advantage to PSV.
The England fans are already seeing their team winning against Germany and Netherlands. Maybe they should check their atrocious head to head record. Gareth Shitgate will not fail to disappoint.
Italy also have a terrible record against us in WC/Euro games. Thats why I wanna see them in the final
Wierd Duk (I swear thats his name ) makes an excellent point why politics should stay the hell out of sports: https://hetlandvanwierdduk.libsyn.com/activisten-handen-af-van-ek-voetbal No more rainbow flags, please No more kneeling, please. If you wanna do all that then run for office, or do it in your own time. But please keep it out of sports
That guy is a first class hypocrite and far right extremist imho. Tommy Robinson was a hero of the working class for him; Russia is not a dictatorship; Iranian footballers don't belong in the Eredivisie; predicted in 2017 a civil war in our country. I'm okay with fighting Islamofascism and development aid should be zero, but this guy is a dangerous Putin worshipper!!
Okay, but does he make a good point for keeping politics out of sports?? (and try to separate the man from his opinion if you can)
I would love to meet England in the semi-final. Truly, I believe we will destroy them. I don't know why, but nothing is as enjoyable as sending the English home. Maybe its their ridiculously biased commentary and journalism?
What do I win, you guys?? https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/2...de-this-thread-r.2115675/page-5#post-39663528
I was just gonna post the exact same thing. The scores in their group games were very flattering, but thats because all 3 opponents never showed up
They have some depth on all positions, not too many yellow cards, enough rest days, and five subs is an advantage. Austria waited too long with making subs. In the end they ran collectively 6 km less as Italy, while this is one of their main strengths. They also lacked a competent forward and Laimer switching sides after 88 minutes - who dealt with Spinazzola pretty well - was a gigantic error really. That costed them two goals.
Italy have good quality to go deep in the tournament, but today they simply didn’t leave their dressing room… looked like they have underestimated Austria, and may have already looked ahead to the heavyweight match vs. Belgium/Portugal in the next round. Overall they were not as disciplined as they were in the group stage - too many loose passes (to their credit, they pressed hard and fast as soon as they lost possession). Their defense, especially in the second half, was suspicious. Too easy to breach. Good lesson for Oranje. One game at a time!!! Do not discount the Czech.
