That is the Joe I am most familiar with. He is going to need an excellent staff to keep him on track, drive things and tell him when to shut up and get to work. I agree that he will halt the destruction of our democracy but there was a reason Obama was saying back before primaries that Joe shouldn't feel obligated to run. Great wingman, but... I will go to my DE polling station and vote for Joe while being amazed that this is where we are.

Is there any data about whether or not any of these are new voters? Or demographic info? I get that there are advantages of people voting early, especially if Covid would have made some of these people opt out on election day otherwise. Or arguably it will cut down on lines outside voting places on election day. But when people vote, in and of itself, doesn't mean much. If people who always voted on election day are now voting early, I am not sure that is so significant.

Plenty....if you are on twitter, follow Michael McDonald @ElectProject.
He may be the best out there on that topic.

Specifically about Harris County? I know there is promising data elsewhere.

I have seen some on twitter but can't recall the specific accounts. Do a twitter search for Harris county elections. You should find some info.

    Nice problem to have....

“Democrats have a new dilemma as election day approaches: They are running out of places to spend their mountains of cash,” the Los Angeles Times reports.
“Fundraising for the party’s Senate candidates — even some in GOP strongholds — has so exceeded expectations that party operatives are rushing to rewrite their budgets and expand their reach.”

I think it does. It used to be that rain in the evening did worse for Dems because Dems were more likely to work jobs and then vote after.
In this context, though, it is well known that Dems have been pushing early voting and vote by mail, while the Reps have not. Thus, if and when there are announcements of huge numbers of early voting and mail in ballots, that could drive those marginal Individual One voters to not vote. Sure, that is a fairly small group, but it could be enough to swing a school board seat, or a state assembly seat.

So Ben Sasse was actually recorded slagging off Mango - I heard the recording on Axelrods podcast

He didn't hold back, and it was on a constituent call so he must have known it would be recorded

I guess this is the launch of his 2024 effort

Obviously Trump needs to lose because of the preservation of American democracy and all that.

But from the point of view of dispassionately observing/studying politics, a post-Trump Republican Party is a way more interesting case study than a second-term Trump Republican Party.

I don't think Ben Sasse has much of a place in presidential politics in either scenario, but then, I certainly wouldn't have predicted Trump in 2012.

This all depends on how the Republican Party "normalizes" in 2022/2024.

In 2012 I predicted Christie because “what republicans really want is a bully.”

I was right. I just didn’t think big enough.

I disagree only because I think Ben Sasse is a shitty politician.

There might be room for someone like Ben Sasse, but not him as a person.

This is why if she wasnt better off being a Secretary of Treasury, I would say Liz Warren. Maybe a Katie Porter as Chief of staff. But not sure who can wrangle him enough to be one. I would like it to be black person or a woman because I dont think I can think of when it has been.

The only issue I have with this article is that Biden always had his own team from his days as a powerful chairman on the hill and they have been very loyal to him. He didn't really need Team Obama to run.
The Tom Donilon, Tony Blinken, Ted Kaufmann, Ron Klain, Anita Dunn, Bruce Reed are part of this core. His Chief of Staff will likely come form that group. Having said that, from Mayor Pete, to Susan Rice and Cedric Richmond, there is a lot of talent out there ready and willing to join the new administration. Even Andrew Yang was saying he was contacted to be a part of it.

Can Yang be the Secretary of technology. I would like a new Department within the government to deal with the future of AI and it will work with all these other agencies dealing with Russians hacking, recruiting more white hats and Bill of Rights for internet users privacy.

Apparently that will be something to that extent, new technology and modernize the Federal while brining new tech talents. He was on Vox podcast with Ezra Klein and extensively covered it.

Biden says he will announce his position on packing the USSC soon. Says it will be tied to what happens in the Senate with Coney.

""I'm gonna make clear my position in the next several days when they vote on this nominee."

    https://www.fox2detroit.com/news/ex...-clear-when-senate-votes-on-amy-coney-barrett

I dunno. We're 1st and goal at the one yard line. I can only assume they have polling that suggests he needs to address this question.

We really need to work hard to change the wording to reforming the court. Packing has a negative connotation and we need to stop playing under their terms.
