Religiously... and when I researched the meaning I realized I should have known. To be Frank de Boer, the only peripheral Flintstone character I can remember is Quzo (or whatever his 'My Uncle Martin' knock off character was called).
People still care, once a league has been established. I'd rather they play a couple of games behind closed doors than the schedule get any more unbalanced than it already is. I think MLS may be suspended longer than the 30 days we have now, but if they're going to try to salvage the season, they would do well to get all the games in, IMO. Off-topic: I kind of feel bad for Liverpool even if they are officially recognized as Prem champs, because they're not going to get that special moment in the dying seconds of the clinching game. And it's already gotten pretty trolly, with Tony Adams weighing in when there was no reason. I can only imagine the ugliness from opposing fans who will ignore a 25-point lead.
I doubt any EPL fan is going to take anything away from Liverpool. What they did was magic and the Brits will be telling their great grandchildren about it decades from now.
Mod Note: Having no footie sucks and I'm sure we're all getting antsy. Some of us may even see our jobs at stake, others our very health. All the more reason to keep these threads light hearted. So keep it civil going forward. Also, guests should know flaming is not tolerated.

Calling it a tournament in Atlanta's case is a bit generous, since I don't expect the squad playing more than one game.
That's just what we want CA to think. This whole season has been a setup for this game, where we score a third goal in the 7th minute of stoppage time and then a fourth goal in the 8th.
Cubo Torres is on the CCL roster, despite having been let go at the end of the season. Dude should really be in the prime of his career. Shame he didn't produce more. He's had a couple flashes of brilliance in his career amongst the several years of mediocrity or total ineffectiveness. Hopefully, he goes out there with something to prove and shows one of those flashes. He'll be looking for a place to land.
I saw the roster and was shocked that they'd risk first-team talent next season to get a goal or maybe two out of this. I don't think there's any chance of coming back from 0-3 against a heathy opponent. Roll the 2s out there (if that's allowed) and let the first team stay healthy. We have four months to get ready for the 2021 league season. That said, unless I'm being paid by the game, there's no way I'd play for a club that had let me go. Another wild result of MLS' season scheduling (not saying we can do anything about it- just that things come up at weird times for us because we have a weird season)
No, if I'm Cubo, I'm begging Coach Glass to start me. I need a new contract somewhere, and a goal against a big Mexican side might get me a look from a Mexican team. Even if Atlanta doesn't want to keep me around, this is a prime opportunity to get some relatively high-profile minutes against a major opponent. And for Atlanta, there's no downside to starting him. As for all the rest of the players, I tend to agree. Start the kids, get them a game against top-quality talent, and see what happens. If it looks like we might have a chance to go up 3-0, make some key subs and go for the jugular. Otherwise, have some fun and evaluate talent. America has had literally nothing to do since November but prepare for this game, and the Clausura doesn't start until next year. If they don't win this game 4-0, I'd consider it a failure for them. All that being said, I'm rooting for Atlanta to win the CCL and keep the string of silverware alive.
If they start Cubo and the kids, he probably won't get that goal. We all are. But it's not gonna happen.
I mean, realistically, was he going to get the goal with the starters in? He hasn't all year, so there's no reason to think he'd start now. But of the strikers we have on the roster, I'd start Cube.
Roberson says Cesar Luis Merlo is now saying it's a done deal. https://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-...d-reach-agreement/MV2LUG3T6BHKXOC4TIBO3SIWXM/ Anyhoo, Gabriel Heinze is probably United's new manager.
So, FWIW there's a match tonight. Yay? Yes, it will be cool to see an Atlanta team playing Club America, but as if the Covid-forced scenario wasn't eerie enough the depleted roster means Atlanta might not only lack Damm and Moreno but also start players who know they won't even be back in January! This has the potential to get ugly. On the bright side, however, Lopez is expected to see playing time and the other players might be looking to impress the new coach, who we're told will be watching via TV. So, there's that. Vamos Atlanta! I'll check in later as the match progresses. For now - 25 mins on the rowing machine!
