Ugh.. not too long ago we had 3 good GK on our roster and now we can't find one that doesn't wet the bed.
I think you are arguing for what I have been saying for years. Spend our money on salaries and not transfers and amortization costs. Pay our good players higher salaries instead of rolling the dice on other players, who may or may not work out. If they don't we then spend more money on transfers and amortizations on another player... rinse repeat. Look at Alisson for example. We sold him for what 60 or 70 mil? We have since turned around and spent 10 mil or so on Olsen and another 20 mil on Lopez and we are set to spend yet more. I'm not saying Alisson would have stayed if we offered him a much higher salary, I'm just using him as an example. Certainly there are some players that we just aren't going to be able to keep or the transfer fee is going to be too good to pass up but there have been plenty of cases where we sell just to realize a tidy profit only to suffer on the pitch and in the (accounting) books afterwards.
L'#ASRoma e gli agenti di Roger #Ibanez hanno trovato da qualche giorno l'accordo per il rinnovo del contratto: il difensore brasiliano guadagnerà 1,5 milioni di euro (più bonus) a stagione. Ibanez to Ibanez sounds good?. This guy is an absolute unit and continues to impress. As good in the air as Osvaldo. Not sure what A. Madrid are planning on doing with him but he should be a top target. I would trust him more to lead the line over Mayoral as first choice.
Jean, Nandez, Ibanez. De Paul is a pipe dream without champions league which gets looks inevitable the longer the seasons goes.
Bruno Peres nearing Roma exit, member of the Brazilian's entourage confirms to RP: "Tiago Pinto hasn't called us for a renewal." https://t.co/nD9G2CIzK2— RomaPress (@ASRomaPress) March 3, 2021 His agent denies it.
Long term doesn't exclude experienced players who can do a job now. Team building requires balance and at a reasonable cost he should be renewed. Without the emergence of Karsdorp he would have had a big year as a wing back in this formation although he's still contributed as a squad player. I wouldnt be so quick to give away a useful player who brings something different.
Ideally you keep both Karsdorp and Bruno and continue to develop Reynolds. Karsdorp Reynolds Spinazzola Calafiori Bruno can play on both sides.
Bruno is playing well because he wants a new contract, once he has it he will play like shit again same thing happened with Fazio and various other players these past few seasons, don’t get duped again
A one year with option for another isn't getting duped. Hes enjoying his football, hes settled. Hes 31, not 34. Plenty of good years left in him. Falling for it again would be gutting out older but useful players for a new young player. Then the cycle repeats as they get experience. You know what Peres brings when he plays. Can play on both sides and I'd start him on right side of attack ahead of the great Pedro. Versatility like that isn't easy to find.
