My all-time favorite Wynalda moment, (at least I believe it was W) he was playing against Crew at OSU, I was holding a parab mic. The ball went out of touch right in front of me, the call went against him, and only 3' from the dish, he turns and screams at the Assistant "WHAT THE F___ ARE YOU LOOKING AT!!!" I guess it was lucky we were on Mexican TV, but it was pretty funny.

Not sure how Zlatan is still doing it, but to see what he is doing at his age is impressive. He is an @SS, but knows how to put the ball in the net.

Just read up a bit on it. Guess after a voodoo ritual back in the day, a voice told Lukaku to play for Chelsea and leave Everton.

FYI, Hoppe did just re-sign with Schalke. The contract *is* valid for the 2 Bundesliga.

HUGE upset in the German Cup

RW Essen (4th division) takes down Bayer Leverkusen 2:1 in extra time (and they were down 0:1 in the 115 min). They move to the quarterfinals. They have not lost in (I think) 33 straight games.

    Two points of interest.

In Germany, due to a travel ban, Liverpool is not allowed to come to Germany for their CL match vs Leipzig. They are looking for an alternative site. Some of those possible sites are not usable (e.g. The Netherlands) as other counties have a similar ban. The ban does not affect Leipzig going to England. The Gladbach-City game might also be affected, but it takes place after the ban expires. They are looking at a site in Denmark, just in case, as it would not be a surprise if the ban was extended.

There has been a partial resolution to the French situation with TV rights. The former holder, Mediapro, out of Spain, stopped paying in October. The rights will go to Canal+ for the rest of the season. But I'm guessing it's at a far lower rate. The league is owed over 300 million Euros for missed payments in October and December.

Both reports were in Kicker today.

FC Bayern beat Tigres for the Club World Cup. Since taking over for Niko Kovacs as Manager in November 2019, Hansi Flick has lost 5 games and won 6 cups.

Did not watch it, but saw the score was 1-0, with the goal in the 59th minute. Possession 55-45. Shots 17-3.

BM obviously in control, but it was not a stomping.

BM had a first half goal called back for offside from VAR. GWG was checked with VAR and ruled a goal after being ruled off on the field. Definitely close.

Stomping or not, FC Bayern is only the second team to get a sextuple, 6 cups in one season, matching the 2009 Barcelona team as the only two teams to hold 6 cups at the same time.

Eh, I'd count this trophy as this season--and we already know they are out of one competition (German cup). But it's still impressive.

Gladbach played for the World Club Cup one season (when it was a two team deal vs the SA champ). The second leg didn't take place until a third season has begun., and that team was completely different from the one that had qualified. Of course, we were only in as Liverpool decided not to play.

Edit: The Kicker headline for the Bayern game was: "average is good enough".

It wasn't me who deemed it a sextuple. It was pretty much widely reported in various media outlets as such. The two reasons given for calling it that: 1. They are the current title holder for 6 competitions, and 2. They won all of these competitions within the same 12 month period. So I'm guessing they're counting DFB Pokal because, until the current competition is complete, FC Bayern is still the reigning champ.

Fanduel has Netherlands v Latvia at +5000.

Feeling lucky? Those Latvians are tough.
