Pure speculation on my part, but perhaps it could be some kind of provisional thing ... that he's given himself that option (Celtic), but that maybe he's also laying down a marker letting Wednesday know what it'll take to keep him. Probably just wishful thinking. Still ...
It's looking bad. Liam Shaw got ejected for cards in the 44th and 50th, Birmingham scored in the 63rd, and it's in the 81st. If you lose and get relegated, today could be why. Edit: You lost 1-0. You're 3 points and 4 goal differential behind Birmingham City, who's in the last safe position.
Not a chance. In fact, it's got to be one of the least attractive jobs in the top two tiers of English football at the moment. No one with any kind of managerial reputation (and wants to keep it) will want to work with what Chansiri's put together. Bad, bad loss today.
What is really aggravating, aside from me restating this for the millionth time, without the points deduction we're stuck mid table and fairly far off from relegation. Without that we'd be bitching about how far off 6th place we were...
I'm not sure that's true anymore. Without the six point deduction, I don't think I would've given much thought to relegation ... until yesterday's Birmingham game. Wednesday would be on 34 - level with Coventry and Derby - and 22nd place Brum would've just pulled to within 3 points. In other words, the drop zone would've just been one matchday away. Granted, it wouldn't have been panic-time; a couple of wins and you're probably away from it. But even if you could wave a magic wand and have the six points back, Wednesday would be in the relegation scrap as we speak. Things would look better, for sure. But there's no way is this squad too good to go down - even without the penalty. It's a really bad team.
Yer not wrong. And seriously, even when things are going great at S6, there is still a looming threat of relegation...
Well, if we're honest, the club's been quite poorly run for a very long time. Mandarich obviously knows what he's doing with football clubs and he steered them back up from the 3rd tier, but he was clearly running it on the cheap until a more invested owner came in. And that owner don't have a scoobie. And the fifteen or so years that preceded Mandarich don't bear thinking about. Shambolic. So it's no wonder it always feels like failure is just around the corner.
Agreed. And I misspoke up there a few posts ago, we'd actually be at the lower end of the mid table...
You've got to fancy your chances the way Brentford have been playing, if Coventry can beat them you surely can.
Wycombe, Rotherham, and Brum all lost today, which is good, as they represent the three most likely teams to finish below Wednesday - should such a thing happen. Huddersfield also lost, though they're less likely to catch. Derby won, though, and it looks like they're moving toward safety. Coventry could still be very much in it should they drop points in Swansea tomorrow. It's another big one at Brentford tomorrow. I'd guess they'll all be big ones for Wednesday from here on out.
We'll probably lose by 3 once I post this but dammit... we can't buy a goal. 1 goal in the last 3 out of 5 matches, ROT, STO, BIR, would have made a huge difference. We'd be sat on 31 points. A win pushes up to 22 with 31 points to the Millers 29, a tie will bring us even with the Millers. It's all a fantasy for now. We won't win. It really is a shame too because so many other teams are begging to be relegated.
It's underway. Rhodes starts with Paterson on the bench. Harris will assist Rhodes today ... at least once. I can feel it in me shorts.
Wednesday have conceded a soft goal inside a half-hour, despite having been largely in control. It's a lovely day out for the first time in months. I'll be damned if I'm going to sit around and monitor this shite. The Harris/Rhodes feeling is gone. Wednesday will get nothing. I'm leaving.
