FYP, as the Loons were not a USL side. One could argue whether or not the NASL was higher or lower than the USL, I grant you...
I was going to post this earlier but didn't want to be the one responsible for giving you a heart attack.
Getting close. News: #MNUFC is now nearing the completion of Thomas Chacon’s transfer from his club in Uruguay — but here’s a checklist of things that need to get done, including, well, the signature. https://t.co/ciDv8QQUzH— Andy Greder (@andygreder) August 3, 2019
Hearing that the Brian Rodriguez deal with @LAFC is done. Perhaps a few details to clean up but the ink will be dry before the transfer window closes Wednesday. The Penarol player will probably be introduced to the supporters at Sunday's game— Kevin Baxter 🇺🇦🏳️🌈 (@kbaxter11) August 5, 2019
I’m told Minnesota United has completed the transfer of 18-year-old Uruguayan attacking midfielder Thomas Chacon from Uruguayan club Danubio for a fee of $4 million, a fee that secures 70 percent of his rights for #MNUFC . Big move for the Loons. #MLS— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) August 5, 2019 Looks like this is a done deal.

DC United have been linked to both Mario Balotelli and Mesut Ozil for potential January transfers. One of Ozil's representatives will be meeting with DCU next week.
DCU is deep in talks with Argentine winger Mateo Garcia (Las Palmas/Aris). It would be an estimated $3 million transfer. Trade talks continue, as well, and could hinge of whether the Garcia deal gets done.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) August 6, 2019 Also, two names that will come up in the #dcu rumor mill as possible January transfers: Mario Balotelli and Mesut Ozil. Doesn't mean one or the other is on the way, but there has been contact between the sides. Save that for the next #sillyseason.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) August 6, 2019
French striker Loïs Diony is wanted by DC United. He currently plays for Saint-Étienne. He scored 5 goals and 1 assist in Ligue 1 last season. He is 26-years-old and is valued at $5.7 million. (France Football) #DCU pic.twitter.com/mQ0oQAC62k— MLS Transfer Zone (@MLS_ZONE) August 6, 2019

I'm not sure about that. They have Bojan, Piatti, Lappalainen, Tabla, Okwonkwo, Urruti, and Taider for the 5 forward and midfield slots. When Piette is available he is starting. So you can pair him with Taider and Bojan in the midfield if you run a 3 man midfield or put Bojan as the withdrawn striker in a 4-4-2. Of course, Bojan's last 3 seasons are like this: 16/17 - 3 goals in 475 EPL minutes before going on loan to the Bundesliga and getting 1 in 630. 17/18 - 72 EPL minutes before going on loan to La Liga and playing 436 minutes. 18/19 - 1 goal in 735 minutes in the English Championship. The Bojan of Barca days is LONG gone. And Tabla isn't much better to me. This year he had 2 goals and an assist in 957 minutes in the Spanish third division and 37 minutes for the team Jon Erice (Vancouver) was a starter for before signing in MLS in January. He was decent enough in MLS in 2017 but is he an upgrade on Okwonkwo or Lappalainen? Don't think he is. He might be a solid depth piece but I'm not convinced he'll really make the team better. And the biggest problem is that neither of these signings help what is the 3rd worst defense in the league. You might get a team that could possibly hold the ball up a bit better with Bojan but they are still going to be fragile at the back. Edit: While I am ragging on Bojan and I'm not sure it will work, I do want to acknowledge this was done with TAM. How long ago would a signing like this have to be done as a DP?
