Doniak starting for Utah - I like.
NC in a 4-2-3-1 with Leshnak starting in goal, Hinkle,Kurtz, Roccaro, R Williams in back; Sully and Mathias as DM; Wms, Zerboni, Hamilton as middies with Pruitt up top. R Williams did well vs. Lyon and Roccaro is a steady hand. Overall this looks good....and interesting
I bet Spetsmark is wondering why she agreed to play with NC.

Started again at 12 seconds into the game, but then cut out again. And now it's just cutting in and out... :(

03' 0-0 Vincent right ck to 6-top right post, Laddish volleys wide right. No stream problems for me (on a PC).

04' 0-0 McGrady pass up left touch intercepted. Oddly, most of the play so far has been along near touch.

08' 0-0 Hatch cleverly pushes off Jónsdóttir through circle top left, chases ball through box top left, cuts inside past Jónsdóttir and crosses to 3m 6-right, Moros puts ball over endline right.

09' 0-0 Washington right ck, cleared to circle top. 2nd entry pass, Rodriguez jumps to block and ball hits her right tricep against her chest, handball.

10' 0-0 Huster fk at circle top, into box top center, Sullivan back-header goes wide left.

12' 0-0 Both teams are confident using short-passing to break pressure, then medium-long passes to probe space.

13' 0-0 Sullivan passes from 27m mid-left to McGrady unmarked to 13m box left. McGrady crosses one-touch directly to Barnhart at near post.

14' 0-0 Hatch(?) spins ccw outward to box top wide right, square pass left to DiBiasi through arc top mid-left. DiBiasi shoots on the run, ball deflects down off S.Johnson's ... left(?) hand held against body, no call. Ball skitters leftward across 15m, cleared. On replay, this pbp crew mis-identifies S.Johnson as "Moros".

19' 0-0 Vero counters up centerline to 25m, diagonal pass through box top mid-left for Stengel, she's offside. Pbp crew calls Stengel "Hatch"

23' 1-0 Huster ground pass from 22m right touch to Hatch facing away at box top right post. Hatch promptly touches away from Vincent, runs a tight curl ccw around Jónsdóttir to box top mid-right. Right foot hard pull across mouth splits defenders, toasts Barnhart at near post, bounces into back left edge low.

26' 1-0 Vero passes inside-out through 22m mid-left, slightly behind Rodriguez's inward run. Huster reaches foot out and knocks ball through box top mid-left -- into Rodriguez's stride  P.Nielsen slides down onto back and sneaks left toes just ahead of Rodriguez's feet, pokes over endline left.

30' 1-0 DiBiasi cross from 8m right touch to 8m center, Ship sets up 1-v-1 and jumps a half-beat too early, reaches her peak and falls away from ball dropping just past her.

32' 1-0 Ship backpass to Huster at own circle back right touch, instantly back-cuts Moros caught way high, Huster passes into her stride down right touch alone. Ship veers through box top right to 15m, backpass to Bailey at box top right post. S.Johnson slides down but misses, takes self out of play, Bailey stands alone at 16m center. Right foot shot across mouth low, off left post foot, bounces straight out to 10m. Hatch stabs ball rightward toward spot, her shot blocked by shins.

35' 1-0 S.Johnson longball to 30m arc right, Stengel heads to arc top right. Rodriguez runs on, one-touch shot bounces toward left post, Bledsoe dives and pushes it wide left.

38' 1-0 Sullivan shoots from arc top left, just over right 90.

43' 1-0 Huster/Ship/Andrews ping a triangle to 12m wide right, again rampaging through Utah's left flank defense. Utah clears, Vero lags a long pass through box top mid-right for Stengel with too much gap to close, Staab shields her off until Bledsoe finally comes out to 7m mid-right to fall on it. Utah are settling for speculative forward passes into lone runners' stride.

44' 1-0 Boquete passes to Rodriguez at 17m arc left, Rodriguez snap-shot with medium power to left post, no trouble for Bledsoe.

    45' 1-0 Washington shoot just over right 90? +1'.

HT 1-0. Washington overran Utah's left side consistently. Rodriguez got a couple of half-chances.

20' 0-0 O'Sullivan long ground pass up wide left for Pruitt chasing Greening. Pruitt exuberantly runs around Greening's box-out try, tugs self around Greening's arm-fend a bit too hard, gets a foot on ball and stops it at 1m as both sprawl backward into end zone. Foul on Pruitt.

23' 0-0 Callahan leans for a header in circle front, O'Sullivan jumps across her front and they bump torsos aloft. Foul on O'Sullivan.

24' 0-0 The stars might be gone, but their replacements have a lot of -- energy :) NC longball to arc top mid-left, Pressley outjumps Pruitt, then chases ball to own wide right. Even Pressley is flying around tonight.

25' 0-0 NC fk at 24m mid-left, trick play: triple dummy over ball (like a Thunderbirds bomb burst), tap back, Mathias inside-out diagonal pass to Ln.Williams unmarked through box top mid-left. Alas, ball is slightly behind Williams, bounces off her heels, she gets closed down 1-v-2. That play would actually work if the pass was on target :D

26' 0-0 Elinsky dribbles into space at 30m mid-right, Kurtz sticks a foot in and pokes ball away, Elinsky trips flat over her thigh and lands hard on right side. Brief stoppage, Elinsky regains wind and resumes.

46' 1-0 Utah kick off ... improperly? (They kicked it forward?) R1 blows it dead, turnover! We srsly need a tweetcap of this, for training purposes :coffee:

    [ORL-NC]
32' 0-0 Zerboni splits Pressley and Callahan through arc tangent right to 13m mid-right, right foot shot across mouth, Kopmeyer kick-saves away.

    [WAS-UTA]
49' 1-0 Stengel shoots right instep bend from 22m arc top, medium power to Bledsoe at 1/4 right. Not terrible, considering that Utah aren't generating anything better than that, either.

50' 1-0 DiBiasi ground pass from 6m wide right to Hatch at 12m mid-right, one-touch shot blocked by Vincent sliding. Hatch pokes ball centerward to 10m past Vincent still down, shoots left instep toward left post, off Ship(?)'s arm, deflects straight down -- and then Ship, in spinning cw backward to avoid ball, sweeps S.Johnson's leg, and knee hyperextends wrong way? Utah clears, stoppage, S.Johnson is down in pain.

52' 1-0 S.Johnson limps into end zone, Utah resumes with 10.
    53' 1-0 S.Johnson returns.

55' 1-0 DiBiasi left ck, high over 12m right post, bounces past everybody into near touch. Washington have a bit of speed advantage all over the field, and they consistently grind up chunks of field position that Utah just can't get back.

57' 1-0 Andrews runs past Jónsdóttir to arc top left, shoots across mouth just wide right low. Touch called, corner.

58' 1-0 DiBiasi right ck, to 8m 1/4 left, Staab pushes off and heads to goalline center, Barnhart blocks. Foul on Staab.

59' 1-0 Utah subs in (1 of 3) #15 Erika Tymrak for #13 Makenzy Doniak.

    [ORL-NC]
44' 0-0 Hinkle chips from 22m box left to 8m left post, Hamilton hops to receive but Orlando poke it past her, over endline left.

45' 0-0 NC left corner, short tap back, Hinkle one-touch left instep to goalline. Royal scramble ensues, Orlando finally clears. Hinkle chips high from 30m mid-left over Kopmeyer's hand, off crossbar center, bounces up high and drops at 5m 3-left. Ln.Williams gets a header touch, Orlando finally clears.

    HT 0-0.

65' 1-0 Utah switch left to Tymrak unmarked through 25m wide left. Tymrak veers inside to 17m mid-left, jukes past Huster down to 9m mid-left. Ground cross to 6m top 1/3 left, poked away from Jónsdóttir(?), out to Rodriguez unmarked at 8m 3-left. Rodriguez shoots to 1/6 left low, Bledsoe blocks, ball squirts out leftward and Bledsoe falls on it.

67' 1-0 Washington subs in (1 of 3) #17 Cali Farquharson for #2 Arielle Ship.
68' 1-0 Utah subs in (2 of 3) #20 Mallory Weber for #7 Mandy Laddish.

69' 2-0 Moros taps square right to Tymrak coming back, Sullivan bumps her from behind and pokes ball ahead of her, to Farquharson. Quick pass to Hatch at 30m arc right, Hatch dribbles through box top mid-right and beats Vincent to 12m, shoots right foot across mouth past Barnhart's dive, off left post low. Ball bounces straight out to 10m left post, Bailey runs on and shoots one-touch left foot across goal into 1/4 right back low, with Barnhart still getting back.

72' 2-0 Washington subs in (2 of 3) #5 Megan Crosson for #9 Tegan McGrady.
72' 2-0 Utah subs in (3 of 3) #48 Alexa Newfield for #24 Katie Stengel.

81' 2-0 The pbp crew search for the proper term for a native of Liverpool, which is "Liverpudlian" :coffee: Washington has young happy-feet, and can quickly settle the ball in seams, then make the next pass before pressure comes. Utah seems a bit gassed this late, and doesn't have extra energy to spare on high presses. The result is that Washington can creep-and-hold ground, while Utah needs to burn energy on a sprint move to create anything, and it's grinding them down.

84' 2-0 Washington subs in (3 of 3) #13 Bayley Feist for #19 Dorian Bailey.

59' 0-1 NC left ck, cleared through box top left to 25m wide left. Hinkle one-touch cross high to 6-top center, ball drops juuust past Ln.Williams' back-header try, bounces at 6m center off Kopmeyer's hands, out to 7m center. Hamilton pounces first, one-touch right instep into 1/4 right back low. Blink once, and a disaster beyond your imagination shall occur!

FT 2-0. Washington leaps to #1. Wow, with their young core, Washington could be the next North Carolina after NC get old :p

Would certainly be interesting to see if it happens! Especially in the context of how NWSL generally takes rookies, chews 'em up and spits 'em out; how few of them tend to stick. If DC take silverware in consecutive seasons starting this year, it would certainly be an interesting study to see why the young cores of WNY'16 and DC'19 flourished while young players elsewhere floundered.

66' 0-2 Hinkle receives past circle top, passes to Hamilton at 17m wide left. Pruitt makes an inside cut down box left, Hamilton passes to her at 8m box left -- and promptly makes her own inward cut along box top to mid-left. Pruitt turns back to 9m wide left, backpass to Hamilton at 16m mid-left, facing away. Hamilton spins cw and splits Greening and Weatherholt, alone to 10m mid-left. Left foot shot rises over Kopmeyer's right hand, into 1/5 right back high. Wow, great technique on the settle-and-spin.

68' 0-2 North Carolina subs in (1 of 3) #25 Meredith Speck for #12 Leah Pruitt.
