53' 2-0 Portland subs in (1 of 3) #34 Tyler Lussi for #35 Gabby Seiler.
54' 2-0 Portland subs in (2 of 3) #36 Angela Salem for #30 Celeste Boureille.

64' 2-0 Foord crosses from 4m wide right to 4m 1/3 left, Bledsoe slaps it across to 7m 5-left. Crnogorčević heads across 6-top to 7m 1/4 right, Lussi steps away to ball -- lets it bounce across her, spins ccw as Staab grabs her jersey and tugs, it only helps her swing into a right roundhouse half-volley to 1m right post, Bledsoe blocks it down and collects the bounce.

67' 2-1 Andressinha right ck, to 6m 1/4 left, Andrews(?) heads away past box top mid-right. Carpenter passes back to Andressinha, her cross is micro-deflected and drops short at 4m 3-right. Crnogorčević half-volleys, blocked point-blank by Bledsoe jumping, bounces out to 6-top right. Crnogorčević steps back and crosses off Foord at 7m 1/3 right, she snaps head back and ball bounces up off her chest, bloops rightward and drops perfectly just inside right post.

70' 2-1 Washington subs in (1 of 3) #19 Dorian Bailey for #7 Amy Harrison.

71' 3-1 DiBiasi left ck, tight inswinger to 0.5m 2/5 left. Matthews jumps with Eckerstrom and challenges for a header touch, both miss clean, ball continues untouched and bends in behind them, into back right low.

I see a hint of body-surfing upon Eckerstrom, pinning her left arm down and putting weight on her jump.

74' 3-1 Washington subs in (2 of 3) #18 McKenzie Berryhill for #8 Meggie Dougherty Howard.

83' 3-1 Washington subs in (3 of 3) #17 Cali Farquharson for #20 Cheyna Matthews.

90+1' (of +3') 3-1 Carpenter plays a give-and-go with Foord, receives down box right but called offside.

90+2' (of +3') 3-1 Portland attacks down the right, turns away at box top wide right, switches left -- a bit too calm in possession with the clock ticking. Klingenberg chips to 10m 1/3 left, a defender heads away over endline right.

90+4' (of +3') 3-1 Yellow card on Logarzo, for a foul at 25m wide right. Klingenberg fk, inswings to 14m right post, Staab(?) heads away.

FT 3-1. Washington quietly have a bit of explosive speed all over the field: every time Portland made a move and looked for a window, a Spirit defender put on a burst and closed the gap. On offense, Washington earns corner kicks and DiBiasi takes them :)

Eckerstrom might yet be a good gk, but she gets victimized by golazos and weird bounces. She needs a 12-save lockdown signature game to rattle opposing shooters, before she ingrains the habit of being rattled herself.

Why Utsugi wasn't even on the bench today? There was no indication that she had join Nadeshiko Japan NT already... On the other hand, she wasn't mentioned on injury report, not even as "questionable".

I hope there is no sudden injury involved, at less than a month from the WWC. Maybe, she was just side-lined because she was going to be absent soon for the World Cup anyway? :cautious:

Yahoo Sports/Video/NWSL is a page of dead links? It auto-selects the HOU-CHI stream, which doesn't start for another ~1 hour, and none of the other game links work, in FireFox or Chrome.

Go directly to Yahoo Sports, Soccer, NWSL and click on the NC-Utah game to get its embedded game stream.

07' 0-1 Erceg kicks upfield to circle back left, too high for Debinha, Bowen knocks it down. Jónsdóttir stretches for a high right crescent kick upfield to 32m mid-right -- Utah have Stengel facing ball, Boquete at 32m arc left, Rodriguez at 30m mid-left, already starting her front-cut past Mathias. Stengel lifts knee-high right outstep and taps diagonal left between Zerboni and Erceg, spins both, into Boquete's stride behind them. Kurtz comes across from the left at 25m right post, Boquete dinks a soft roller to 16m center. Rodriguez has 1/2 step of inside position on Mathias, slides and taps ball to left post, rolling past Rowland. Rowland inexplicably stands up from her stoop and lets it roll by -- just inside left post low, leaving her aghast.

10' 0-1 Bowen right throw-in just above midfield (so she's that high up). Turnover, Debinha volleys from circle back wide left past circle top mid-left, Ln.Williams toasts Corsie and S.Johnson, collects through box top mid-left, veers inward to 9m 3-left. Barnhart slides out past 7m left post, Ln.Williams snipes right instep toward right post, wide right low. Barnhart closed the angle enough that a shot past her left glove was outside the envelope.

27' 0-1 NC generate a steady stream of chances: 7(1)-(2)3 shots(sog), 1-3 corners, 4-4 crosses, 1-4 fouls. NC's high press is pinning Utah in their own 1/3, with very little forward threat.

30' 0-1 Utah ping across the back, unable to turn with any space. S.Johnson steps on(?) ball at own arc top mid-left, falls down, gets up and passes away. Utah connect another ~8 passes with S.Johnson down on one knee, finally Bowen turns at circle back right touch and taps ball out. S.Johnson waves off trainers, just wants to stretch it out.

    30' 0-1 1H hydration break.

37' 0-1 O'Sullivan shoots right instep bend from box top mid-left, blocked by Bowen(?) sliding. Hinkle retrieves at arc top box left, shot deflected high to 6-top, Utah clears to arc right. NC keep ball alive, Ln.Williams turns on it at 9m mid-right, scoops a cross to 4m center. Ball bounces, Hamilton and Corsie jump for it, Barnhart comes out, all three collide and go down. Ball pops out leftward, Hamilton stays down, Utah clears. Stoppage, trainers examine Hamilton's right leg? She resumes. I think Corsie landed-upon her

40' 0-1 Erceg sweeps at circle back, Rodriguez arrives late and her inside right leg/knee clips Erceg's shins, tripping her. Foul, yellow card on Rodriguez, loud cheer from the partisan fans :D

42' 0-1 O'Sullivan(?) tightropes 1-v-2 on endline wide right, stabs ball between both. Debinha shoots quickly from ~arc right, high and wide right. +3'.

45+3' (of +3') 0-1 Boquete dribbles slowly up wide left, in a 3-v-7 attack :whistling: Backpass to Laddish(?), square pass to LaBonta at circle top left. LaBonta prepares to make a move on O'Sullivan but never executes it, runs aground upon her, loses ball and goes down. Whistle for --

    HT 0-1, no foul.

06' 0-0 Pretty even midfield duel so far. Houston's LB #44 Murray is getting forward fairly aggressively.

08' 0-1 Nagasato passes to Vasconcelos at 30m center -- Kerr makes her sprint-cut through the Brooks/Polkinghorne gap at 25m arc right. Vasconcelos passes behind Polkinghorne's back to arc right, spinning her. Kerr collects alone through arc right, Campbell sprawls rightward through spot, Kerr rounds her stumbling leftward to 12m 3-left, pulls left low roundhouse between two retreating defenders, into back right low.

09' 0-1 Kerr turns past Brooks and receives through box top left, veers inside to 12m mid-left, Brooks recovers and blocks ball over endline left.

10' 0-1 Vasconcelos to Kerr, Campbell saves!
11' 0-1 DiBernardo to Kerr, Campbell saves!

13' 0-2 Murray passes across midfield wide left toward Hanson, DiBernardo digs ball away to Nagasato. Backpass, Colaprico fires a ground pass to Kerr facing away at circle half-front mid-right. Brooks steps up to Kerr's back (trying to intercept that? tsk), Kerr knows (from pre-pass awareness) that Polkinghorne is 3m behind, which triggers the Z-and-go takeoff pattern. Kerr one-touch tap back to DiBernardo, and simultaneously starts her own acceleration sprint upfield. DiBernardo recognizes the same (training :D) pattern, one-touch forward pass zips by Brooks's shoes, into space ahead of Kerr, and now she's 1-v-1 on Polkinghorne with 3m of sprint-start advantage. Polkinghorne must try for the home-run slide tackle, Kerr steps over that, alone through box top 6-right to 13m 4-right. Campbell sets up at 9m right post, Kerr shoots right instep bend directly over her face (ergo both gloves have the farthest distance to go), into back left high. Houston are doggedly playing their back line way up, and Kerr sets up ~5m behind the edge and gets free running starts at it.

27' 1-2 Romero chips from midfield wide right toward Romero at 32m box right, ball misses her and hits Gorden's right calf, trickles behind both at 33m box right. Huerta collects and outpaces Gorden on the inside to 18m arc right, as Naughton drops back to maintain a ~3m wall. Huerta shoots early left foottop across mouth, it skips once past Boyd's dive, into back left low.

72' 0-1 Debinha taps to Eddy through circle center. Eddy lofts a right roundhouse volley to 35m mid-right, Ln.Williams outpaces Corsie to 15m mid-right. Barnhart comes out to 8m right post, Ln.Williams shoots right instep toward right post, Barnhart double-blocks ball away through box right.

73' 0-1 Utah subs in (2 of 3) #13 Makenzy Doniak for #3 Rebecca Moros.

78' 1-1 Erceg collects a clearance at circle right, passes left to Hinkle. Hinkle lifts a cross to Debinha at 18m 6-right -- meanwhile Eddy lurks at arc tangent right, just ahead of Corsie, held onside by Doniak at 17m mid-right. Debinha lets ball bounce straight up in front of her, Eddy starts her cut through arc right, Debinha taps right outstep down to 6-top right. Eddy outraces Corsie, Barnhart comes out to 5m and sprawls leftward to ball. Eddy shoots right foot hard pull flat across mouth, over Barnhart's ribs, into left side netting high.

    82' 1-1 Utah subs in (3 of 3) #20 Mallory Weber for #7 Mandy Laddish. +4'.

    FT 1-1. North Carolina 18(3)-(1)2 shots(sog), 6-5 corners, 30-12 crosses, 4-1 offsides, 4-15 fouls.

38' 1-2 Brooks longball down box left, Ohai chases it to 6m. Soft cross bounces to 7m 1-left, Huerta slides in front of Wright and volleys toward left post, Boyd kick-saves with right knee.

45' 1-2 Kerr and Polkinghorne jump for a header around 6-top right, Polkinghorne receives a head shot to her jaw and springs a leak -- from a cut lip? Stoppage, as she presses a towel to her face. Polkinghorne walks off, Houston finish 1H with 10.

    HT 1-2.

46' 1-2 Wow, Houston start 2H with only 10! Polkinghorne remains out, but they think she can return, and haven't subbed for her yet!

49' 1-2 Yellow card on Stanton. Polkinghorne returns!

53' 1-2 Houston fk at 25m box left, somewhat too low into box, Colaprico(?) stabs it down at 12m 6-left. Chicago outlets to Nagasato, she counters 1-v-2 past circle back, veers inside and rounds Murray, through circle top left. Finally Nagasato gets outmassed by 3 defenders leaning on her right side, sprawls down onto back. Foul, yellow card on Murray.

54' 1-2 Houston subs in (1 of 3) #17 Kyah Simon for #16 Kayla McCoy.

61' 1-2 DiBernardo tries a quick right instep bend from arc top left, not enough bend, just high and wide right.

63' 1-2 Huerta(?) flicks ahead through arc right, Ohai rounds Short and fights her way to 16m 6-right. Short lunges into a hurdler's-stretch across Ohai's feet, flicks right outstep and clears over endline right. Short's left leg promptly cramps, stoppage for stretching.

65' 1-2 Ohai pulls Short's shorts at 27m box left. Foul on Ohai.

    66' 1-2 Chicago try two medium-long chips into Kerr's sprint-start, 1st one intercepted, 2nd one she's offside.

67' 1-2 Wright passes to Kerr facing away at arc top left. Kerr dummies over ball, but Nagasato wasn't on the correct line.

72' 1-2 Vasconcelos shields at box top left, loses ball, stays down with ... left foot/toes cramp? She remains seated, all play on. Houston poor pass directly to Kerr at 22m arc right, quick pass to K.Johnson through arc right to 10m mid-right. Brooks recovers, perfect slide tackle blocks ball off K.Johnson's foot, over endline right for a goal kick.

73' 1-2 2H hydration break. Vasconcelos stays down for treatment/stretching, gets up just in time to take a sip.

75' 1-2 Resume. Kerr left throw-in, ahead to Campbell.

78' 1-2 Vasconcelos gets to 10m 6-left, shoots toward right post, blocked by Romero(?) through 2m right post. Nagasato slides thereat, just misses a tap-in.

78' 1-2 Chicago subs in (1 of 3) #15 Maria Sánchez for #7 Michele Vasconcelos.

82' 1-2 End-to-end, Houston try to break out across midfield but lose it to a 3-v-7 swarm. Chicago bad pass directly to Murray, she heads up left touch for Ohai unmarked. K.Mewis shoots into legs at arc top mid-left, Chicago dump upfield to Kerr 1-v-1 on Brooks at box top wide right. Kerr has no gap(!), backpass, Colaprico(?) return pass. Kerr drives through 7m box right, ... things happen. DiBernardo shoots from 10m mid-left, Romero lays out at 8m and blocks ball with torso, over endline left. Left ck is wasted, directly into side netting just behind left post.
