15' 0-0 Zerboni square pass right to Debinha at 25m right post, Debinha touches forward to 23m arc right, shoots high.

17' 0-0 Debinha does two drag-spins along right touch, Washington pokes it out. NC are extra-motivated for this one, they want points against #1.

17' 0-0 Harrison bends a cross to Hatch between the CBs at box top center. Hatch juggles the trap, taps right to Bailey(?), she taps down mid-right for Huster overlapping to 12m. Huster doesn't shoot one-touch, pulls up and gets stopped 1-v-2. Poor backpass to box top center misses Bailey, Hatch comes back and the chance evaporates. Washington cross from ~arc top wide right, very high to 5m left post, Rowland catches high. NC was exposed in the back, but Washington took one touch too many.

18' 0-0 NC longball to Ln.Williams through box top left, long ground shot across mouth past Bledsoe diving out, just wide right low.

20' 0-0 Bailey dribbles to arc tangent left, shoots left foot weakly to right post low, slow roller trickles to Rowland.

22' 0-0 Zerboni fouls Harrison. R1 admonishes Mathias?

25' 0-0 Harrison crosses early from 25m wide left to 7m center, nobody making a central run, Rowland comes out and catches.

26' 0-0 Washington pass a zigzag across the back from right to left, NC maintain their high press but have lost a bit of speed. Washington longball up wide left, into touch.

27' 0-0 Debinha dribbles past Sullivan through 27m center, P.Nielsen slide-tackles ball away, Debinha hops over her, Sullivan trips over Nielsen backward and her heel dings Nielsen somewhere tender. Brief stoppage, Nielsen stays down on back ...

27' 0-0 ... all others get water. Hydration break is planned for each half? weather.com says Boyds, MD is currently 81°F with 68% humidity, and obviously some chance of precipitation :p

30' 0-0 Mathias pass toward arc left, headed away, Washington outlet to Logarzo through circle back left. Roccaro takes ball away, Logarzo fouls her?

    31' 0-0 1H hydration break.

34' 0-0 NC long switch to Ln.Williams at box top wide left. Ln.Williams cuts inside to arc tangent left, right instep shot blocked by the back of Debinha's head :p at 12m 1/4 left.

36' 0-0 Pruitt chests or dinks ball to Zerboni at arc tangent right. Zerboni juggles left instep straight up, shoots left instep volley with not much power, soft arc to Bledsoe. She needs to throw herself completely over sideways, like Magull vs. Sweden :coffee:

37' 0-0 Ln.Williams chases to box left foot, cross blocked over by P.Nielsen.

38' 0-0 Rn.Williams touches inward to 30m box right, Harrison slide-stretches and trips her down. Foul, yellow card on Harrison, for persistent upendings.

39' 0-0 Mathias fk at 30m box right, outswings through box way wide left.

40' 0-0 Washington cross midfield, promptly try a 20m+ pass and NC easily intercepts. This has happened a lot.

42' 0-0 Washington siege along box top. Bailey passes right to Sullivan, pass wide right to Huster. One-touch cross from arc top wide right to 7m right post, Mathias heads over endline right.

43' 0-0 DiBiasi right ck, way behind goal.

44' 0-0 Staab(?) longball to 30m mid-left, NC collect. Hatch wins it back at 30m arc right, diagonal pass to Logarzo at 15m mid-left. Logarzo touches to 13m, right foot shot blocked by Rn.Williams' hand, no call. Ball bounces straight up, drops at 8m left post, DiBiasi runs on and half-volleys way high nowhere. No VAR in NWSL ;) but replay confirms: it was a blatant handball  +4'.

45+1' (of +4') 0-0 Mathias right ck, to 1m 2/5 left, Bledsoe drops ball at feet. Ref blows whistle and points at center circle :D Is that a foul, or a goal? Foul, Bledsoe free kick at 6-top.

45+2' (of +4') 0-0 Staab longball for Hatch chasing 1-v-2, Rowland comes up to box top center to collect.

45+2' (of +4') 0-0 Off that punt, Debinha chases to 9m wide right, cuts inside through box right to 10m right post, Staab lunges and tugs her down flat on back. Foul, penalty.

45+3' (of +4') 0-1 Debinha pk, right instep to 1/5 right low, Bledsoe dives and saves, but blocks ball out to 6m center. Debinha pounces first, half-volleys right instep across mouth past Bledsoe's 2nd dive, into back right low.

    HT 0-1.

    [WAS-NC]
47' 0-1 Bailey receives at circle top behind the CBs, dribbles to 14m 1/4 right, shoots to 5m center, Rowland blocks.

48' 0-1 Hatch turns to 24m arc left, shoots right instep hard to crossbar 1/4 left, Rowland jumps and pushes it over.

51' 0-1 NC cross from 5m box right to 3m 3-right, Ln.Williams slides for it, Bledsoe steps over her and blocks. Ball sits directly behind Bledsoe, she spins back to it, Ln.Williams (lying on side) pokes it away past her, to 6-top right post. Pruitt pokes at it, Bledsoe gets another touch and falls over Ln.Williams still down. Ball trickles to goalline center, P.Nielsen(?) is standing thereat and clears.

53' 0-2 Washington backpass to Bledsoe just outside own box left, Pruitt lopes to harass. Bledsoe passes to Harrison at left touch, one-touch backpass to Bledsoe, Pruitt is still buzzing around like a mosquito. Bledsoe gacks a pass somewhat toward Harrison in mid-left, Ln.Williams races her from 35m, pokes ball past her and chases alone through 14m box right to 10m mid-right. Staab steps up to her, Ln.Williams taps square left to Pruitt at spot. Dougherty Howard runs way past her to block, Pruitt cuts back to right foot, shoots right instep pull rising across mouth, past Bledsoe's dive, into 3/4 left back 3/4 high.

    57' 0-2 Washington subs in:
    - (1 of 3) #20 Cheyna Matthews for #8 Meggie Dougherty Howard
    - (2 of 3) #13 Bayley Feist for #7 Amy Harrison.

66' 0-2 Matthews long ground pass from circle back left through circle top right, Hatch chases it down. Return pass sends Matthews through 27m left post through box top right post -- Roccaro overtakes her through box top center, pokes ball off her foot and clears into near touch?

67' 0-2 Washington right throw-in, cross through 6-top center just misses Hatch(?) sliding.

67' 0-2 Washington subs in (3 of 3) #31 Crystal Thomas for #6 Chloe Logarzo.

68' 0-2 Hatch turns through box top mid-left, Roccaro (micro-)shoulder challenges her off ball just as she turns, Hatch goes flying. No call, Hatch slaps ground, crowd grumbles loudly.

70' 0-2 Matthews turns inside through box top left to box top mid-left, shoots right instep bend just wide right low to endline 1-right, just too far for DiBiasi to reach.

71' 0-2 Matthews drives down mid-left to 6m, ground cross through 3m right post misses everybody, is too far for Huster stopping her run at 6-top right.

72' 0-2 Pruitt dribbles to 15m mid-left, shoots left instep over crossbar center.

73' 0-2 Feist cross from 10m box left, Rn.Williams blocks over.
73' 0-2 DiBiasi(?) left ck, to 5m 2-left, Rowland comes out and catches, bowls Zerboni over.

    75' 0-2 2H hydration break.

78' 0-2 North Carolina subs in (1 of 3) #25 Meredith Speck for #12 Leah Pruitt.

82' 1-2 Staab left throw-in at 7m, to 6-top 5-left. Feist jumps in the scrum and backheads to 6m center. Thomas steps back to ball and heads upward past O'Sullivan's and Hinkle's shoulders -- just past Rowland's dive, drops perfectly into left side netting just behind left post.

84' 1-2 North Carolina subs in (2 of 3) #16 Julia Spetsmark for #10 Debinha.

86' 1-2 Matthews spins through 16m center, ball squirts away directly into Hatch's stride at 10m right post. Hatch shoots one-touch left instep bend across mouth, Rowland dives right and double-blocks away to the left. AR flags somebody offside, probably Hatch.

89' 1-2 North Carolina right throw-in at circle top, to Spetsmark, she taps square rightward for Ln.Williams jumping through a tiny gap up right touch. Williams continues past box top right, P.Nielsen runs alongside her and pokes into far touch.

90' 1-2 Washington slip a pass down mid-left to 5m, Kurtz clears into far touch. +4'.

90+1' (of +4') 1-2 Staab left throw-in, cleared to arc top. Sullivan and DiBiasi(?) both go for it, Andrews shoots right instep just wide left low.

    90+2' (of +4') 1-2 Washington cross to ~14m 1/4 left, Matthews back-heads to 3m 4-right, Rowland collects.

90+3' (of +4') 1-2 Huster touches between Zerboni and O'Sullivan through circle top box right, Zerboni slide-stretches and trips her down. Foul, yellow card on Zerboni.

90+4' (of +4') 1-2 Bledsoe fk at circle top box right, high to 14m 1/4 left, headed away. NC outlet up right touch, Spetsmark rides a 1-v-1 challenge, fakes a throw-in ... then drops ball and walks away, and NC eats 30 seconds for Zerboni to walk over and take the throw-in :devilish:

FT 1-2. Washington's subs massively elevated their energy, but NC did enough early to see it out.

02' 0-0 Houston long high switch to Ohai at circle top left touch. Chest trap bounces away, Hubly takes up upfield, passes up wide right to Charley 1-v-1 on Murray(?). Charley does a drag-behind cut right, goes alone to 12m mid-right. Weak left instep shot to right post, Campbell chest-blocks and spills ball rightward, trots out and picks it up.

05' 0-0 Andressinha crosses from ~arc top wide right to 8m left post, Romero stoops and backheads leftward -- directly into Purce's chest at 9m mid-left. Purce does some cutbacks, left foot shot blocked over by Romero sliding.

11' 0-0 Ohai ground cross from 5m box left, cleared. K.Mewis chips left cross from arc top mid-right to 3m 6-left, Ball kicks it over endline.

12' 0-0 Huerta left ck, to 5m 1/4 right. Brooks runs up from 12m, jumps with Reynolds and heads across mouth, just wide left low.

14' 0-0 Nairn turns to 22m mid-left, shoots left foot low, off K.Mewis's left outstep at 9m, deflects toward left post low. Eckerstrom dives and pushes ball wide left.

17' 0-0 Fields and Reynolds collide in the air at (Houston's) circle top right touch. Brief stoppage for Reynolds, who stays on back ... she resumes. Reynolds has 9,994 minutes, she'll reach 10k in this match

22' 0-0 Ohai receives at 27m left touch, beats Hubly to 15m wide left. Ball comes out to double-team, ball bounces off Ball, off Hubly's chest, over endline left.

23' 0-0 Huerta(?) left ck, cleared around. Brooks heads softly to right post, it bounces to Eckerstrom.

24' 0-0 Romero chips a serve to 8m left post, it drops just over Menges' head leaning backward, off K.Mewis' head leaning to it, wide left.

26' 0-0 Charley turns to ball at arc top wide left, Romero is beaten and tugs her jersey back, pulls her down. Foul.

26' 0-0 Andressinha fk at arc top wide left, to 6m 1/4 left. Purce and Charley run a last-second criss-cross, ball hits Purce on her head squatting and flat-footed, bounces high wide left.

33' 0-0 Fields lies prone as trainer reaches her, gets a massage/stretch for her left hamstring. All others get water. Fields walks into near touch, lies face-down and trainer resumes the massage.

    34' 0-0 Fields resumes.

35' 0-0 Stoppage, trainer trots across field. It's Fields again, hunched over in far touch, grasping her hamstrings. Trainer motions for a sub, Fields walks the long way around the perimeter.

38' 0-0 Houston subs in (1 of 3) #17 Kyah ("key-ah", not "kai-ah") Simon for #24 Jamia Fields. I assume Houston's hometown pbp crew know how their own players pronounce their own names. Similarly, "Kealia" = "key-lee-ah", only 3 syllables :coffee:

44' 0-0 Portland longball to 30m center, headed away. Houston longball toward box top right for Huerta with a 1-step lead, Reynolds closes her down from the inside and blocks ball over endline right.

45' 0-0 Houston cross from ~27m box right to 9m 1/4 left, Murray heads softly to 4m, Eckerstrom comes out and catches low. +2'.

HT 0-0. Houston 6(0)-(1)5 shots(sog), 4-3 corners, 8-8 crosses, 1-2 offsides, 4-2 fouls. Both teams launched many longballs to no avail. When they pass through midfield, their spacing is so wide that they intercept each other. Neither side can outpace the other on the dribble. So ... mostly they trade possessions.

46' 0-0 Portland subs in (1 of 3) #15 Ellie Carpenter for #4 Emily Menges. The rain has increased? The stream now looks about 360p because of water droplets in the way.

50' 0-0 Andressinha fouls Nairn at 30m arc right.

51' 1-0 Nairn fk at 30m arc right, left instep to 5m 2-left. Simon starts from box top arc left against Carpenter's back, runs a better route as Carpenter pulls up through 8m and lets her go , Reynolds gets wrong-footed facing own left post and also stops above 6-top. Simon comes free through 6-top and stoop-heads across mouth past Eckerstrom to goalline center, Hubly slides into own goal and can't keep it out.
