SRFC will host Reno 1868 FC on May 15th at 7:30 p.m. for the second round of the tournament. Tickets go on sale Monday,April 22nd. Hoping we can make as big a splash as last year when we made the quarterfinals! https://www.sacrepublicfc.com/news_article/show/1013784
Just as a side note, of the bazillion teams in USL, there are only three matches between USL clubs. The other 19 games involving USL include a lower-level club.
Right now, i think the Open Cup is a distraction. We need to get our house in order before our league passes us by.........
67th minute.......essentially our first team against Reno's "B" team, and we have zero offense. A lot to be worried about this team right now.
Final 1-0. Bad field conditions, but still a forgettable game. Announcers stated that Simon Elliott told them there were 8 areas of improvement he wants to see SRFC make. How about two....offense and defense.
Why put away the game early when you can wait until the last touch? Stefano Bonomo's first goal for @sacrepublicfc advances the club into the Fourth Round of @opencup!#USOC2019 pic.twitter.com/aK9wvt4Z7m— USL Championship (@USLChampionship) May 30, 2019
Round four opponent will be the Earthquakes on June 11 or 12. Date and location to be announced later today.
Gotta admit, they turned up the heat the last few minutes despite tired legs. Gritty. Oh, and Warner got shafted. His shot was a goal.
I'm just worried that they'll have no legs for Saturday's match. Bad news for Fresneck - they have to go up to COS.

I made the mistake of reading the SJ Earthquakes Open Cup thread. Some of those folks' comments make my head hurt...and I'm an Earthquakes fan! Gems like this - "Sacramento started the game with a lot of energy chasing down every ball and made it difficult to the Quakes. I told my wife they would not be able to sustain that 90min, especially in such heat. And 10-15min into the second half, the Quakes basically dominated the game as Sacramento got slower and slower to react." Yeah, it was the heat that slowed 'em down, because central valley teams never play nor practice in hot temps. But SJ players are used to the high heat Bay Area, and had gas in the tank for that second half push...……../sarcasm Jeez, they wouldn't have looked slower just because the Quakes put top tier talent on the field in the second half.....guys like Vako, who are talented enough to be individually earning roughly 3 times the ENTIRE SRFC roster salary? Then there is this riveting analysis - "I don't know anything about the Sacramento team. They do have a few very tall guys and some storky guys. It feels like team constructed by Dom an Doyle. And a few of them seem rather arrogant and annoying (that #11, and the tall dude scored the free kick, plus the two outside backs). " As a Republic fan, I know the score for Open Cup....I expect to play teams that have a dramatic talent and financial advantage at times. No tears here, and I'm proud of the way Republic played. As an Earthquakes fan, I'm happy the FO has decided the Open Cup is a trophy worth fighting for. 'Quakes are playing well right now, and could make it a long way into the tournament - even win it. But good lord, someone please educate our fans that Avaya isn't the edge of the earth...there's a whole soccer nation out there beyond.
