The Crew played their "home" match vs. US Indy 11 in the fourth round of the 2014 US Open Cup in Akron. They won that match and lost the next on in Bridgeview. Again in 2015, the Crew indicated their intention to host a match in Akron, but the draw didn't go their way and they lost away.
Just took a look, and Pittsburgh has a home game on Saturday June 8 and a road game on Saturday June 15. So that doesn't really give any hints as to whether our game would be on the 11th or 12th.
09/01/10: Columbus 2-1 (a.e.t.) DC United The last time Columbus defeated an MLS team in US Open Cup play.
IT'S BEEN NINE YEARS?!?!?!?!? I look forward to our decade of US Open Cup futility. If only Ketterer could have stopped a PK last year!
I don't think it's official yet, but apparently it's going to be on Tuesday June 11th, at 7pm, at Mapfre.
https://thecup.us/2019/04/10/2019-lamar-hunt-us-open-cup-results-schedule/ It's also on the schedule at Google.
With Pipa, maybe in the 6th round (is that the quarterfinals?). Without him, we need tickets to get to Bridgeview.
Seven—count 'em—seven delightful LAMAR HUNT U.S. OPEN CUP matches will be contested tonight. The organizers obviously put the most important match of the round first, but we'll have lots of other exciting and intriguing match-ups to consume over the course of the evening. Oh, we get nine more matches tomorrow? My CUP runneth over! The USL will have 10 nine opportunities (we're gonna crack these Pennsylvanian walnuts) to pull off a CUPSET this round, but I'm most interested in seeing if Orange County FC can 'splode the Galaxy tomorrow night. I'd give Pittsburgh New Mexico United or Louisville City FC the best odds of advancing. Irregardless, what a wonder time of year! Two nights of the best soccering in the world. We are blessed! All hail THE CUP! Programming Note: The winners from the Fourth Round will be divided geographically into four groups, and pairings will be determined within those groups. A fixed bracket for the rest of the tournament will be established. The Round of 16 draw will take place on June 13, and those matches will be played June 18—23. So... we could have Cincy or Chicago next round. Maybe.
I thought that was already done when we got grouped with DC, Philly and Pitt. So you're telling me we don't have to play the DC/Philly winner next and could have anyone from whomever the powers that be decide are in our region? Cool beans. I had picked Louisville City to cupset FCC but now I hope that doesn't happen and we get US Open Cup Hell is Real THE REMATCH! or lose away to Bridgeview on a shitty cold rainy night. Dealer's choice.
Well, at least we won’t lose to the Fyy-ure. Not that it’s an all-knowing source, but Wikipedia shows a fixed bracket already set.
