Atlanta after a five-week trip to the sidelines, down 0-3, at Orlando with pandemic travel protocols. I guess they've got CA right where they want 'em!
Here is info on the 2021 version... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_FIFA_Club_World_Cup I wonder how many years it will take before any European team loses any games at all to a non-European team...
Complete silence from FIFA on what they plan to do with the 2020 edition... likely, it will either be rescheduled for February or just dropped. ...which FIFA has agreed to reschedule for some other year (no update on when, yet).
Between 2020 and FIFA you are not going to get straight answers. If this kills off the expanded tournament for a decade that will be a silver lining.
At the very least they should hold off on the expanded tournament until 2025, otherwise fixture congestion will be a major issue. Hopefully the 2020 edition can be played in February 2021 (Bayern are reportedly pushing for it) and I for one would welcome one more edition in the current format in December 2021. Then the CWC can switch to the quadrennial format with the 2025 CWC in China.
I'd like to see the USL Championship get berths in the CONCACAF League. After all, the Canadian League gets berths.
Why should the top USL team get in over the next best MLS team? The MLS team is significantly better.
The US already gets four slots directly in the CCL. I don't think they also need a slot in the CL. If they did get a CL slot, it would be up to the USSF as to how to allocate it. The CPL champion doesn't get in because CONCACAF gave the CPL a slot; the CSA has decided to give the Canadian CL slot to the CPL winner. They could instead have given it to the Canadian Championship runner up, the highest ranked Canadian MLS team, or whatever else they wanted.
February it is! So if an MLS team finally gets over the hump in Orlando, their reward will be the shortest preseason ever
Club World Cup pushed back from mid-December until 1-11 February and it will cause considerable fixture headaches for Bayern. Games on MDs 19, 20 and 21 will now have to be shuffled around.— Derek Rae (@RaeComm) November 17, 2020
How would that mesh with the CBA? And if the performance is poor, would it be pre or post-season form that is to blame.
The preliminary rosters are in... Preliminary rosters are in ⚠️Who's bringing the strongest side to Orlando? #SCCL2020 pic.twitter.com/3MOC445hr8— Concacaf Champions Cup (@TheChampions) November 20, 2020 And the surprising thing is Atlanta including Josef Martínez. No way he sees the field against América... right?
Tigres and Cruz Azul meet tonight in the Mexican playoffs. 2nd leg is on 11/28. Club America play Chivas.
