Wouldn't you agree that it would be beneficial to the US team? Wouldn't hurt to play more often on the road. Mexico, Canada and Central American countries could co-host. Montagliani was on record saying that hosting the Gold Cup out of the US was a goal they were building towards
I'd be largley indifferent, but ticket sales would massively suffer, and I'm not sure CONCACAF is dying to see a US/Mexico final in front of 10,000 fans in Kingston, Jamaica (they'd likely have to charge less for tickets too). The money from packing NFL stadiums is far too much to pass up, and even Central American teams can fill up MLS stadiums here
How about over 90k in Azteca? Empty stadiums in the US except for Mexico and US isn't better, might as well go to Mexico
Azteca hosted Mexico's group and knockout stage games in 2003. Mexico did play Brazil twice and those games sold, however Mexico also played Jamaica, Honduras, and Costa Rica. Costa Rica drew 35K, Honduras had 20K, and Jamaica drew a measly 10K. Also the non Mexico games would be ghost towns. Honduras played Brazil at Azteca and only 3000 people showed up (I'm not leaving off a zero). In The US you're talking 60 to 80K for every Mexico game, 20 to 40K for USMNT games, and a handful of full MLS stadiums for Central American games.
Looks like 4-4-2 for Canada against Mexico --------------------Larin---------Cavallini Davies------Tiebert-----Hutchinson-----Johnson Kaye-----Cornelius-----Henry------Brault-Guillard -------‐----------------------Borjan Or --------------------Larin---------Cavallini ‐-------------------------Davies --------Tiebert--------------------------Johnson ------------------------Hutchinson Kaye-----Cornelius-----Henry------Brault-Guillard ---------------------------Borjan Starting XI! 🍁📺: TSN & RDS2📍: Denver 🇺🇸 ⏰: 20:00 local / 22:00 ET / 19:00 PT 🇨🇦: https://t.co/Ucb2eXl3Ef … 🆚: MEXICO #️⃣: 🇨🇦🇲🇽 #CANMNT #TogetherWeRise pic.twitter.com/FmeuL99sRe— Canada Soccer (@CanadaSoccerEN) June 20, 2019
Plus that 85k in Azteca was using the same attendance counting techniques as 2003 MLS... Nice crowd but not full.
Yeah and Brazil vs Hondruas only got 3000 fans, I 'd guess a similar number to Martinique v Cuba. Here's what a Brazil vs Honduras friendly looks like in Miami
Mexico’s blowout of Cuba looking a tad less impressive with Martinique knocking in 3 against Cuba. Mex vs Canada might be good
He said it on Sportsnet, he doesn't want to show the lineup he would use if we were to meet Mexico in the semifinals. We are getting out of the group after Cuba. We have to win the Quarter against Costa Rica or Haiti
Yes the poor decision making confirms why Besiktas has glued him to the bench. Herdman looked pissed. Millar would have been a better choice
Don't like the new rule about drop ball if the ball hits the referee. Means ref can be used as a screen (like before) except if it hits the ref the person using the ref as a screen retains possession and runs no risk of getting a bad bounce and counter.
Having Piette in the mix to help the offense getting forward would help Edit: I can see why Canpro isn't giggly about seeing Larin in the lineup.
Definately, and it shows how depleted the midfield is without Arfield and Osorio...I have a new appreciation for Osorio.
Resting David. They are playing in altitude after all He did bring in the best defense corps we have available. He's exposing them to Mexican relentless attack so they get use to it. We aren't in CNL qualifiers anymore. They need to shift gears. I see what he's doing.
Yes but this 343 needs those two dmids to be on the same page and Kaye and Johnson are playing it well.
