I don't know about the mother tongue, but Brazilians pronounce initial Rs as a guttural H, almost like you were trying to say the letter R with the back of your tongue instead of the front of it.
I hear ya, as someone who has had his name butchered his entire lifetime I like to get peoples names correct. And the supporters groups have a lot to work with in 'Hossetto' when coming up with a chant.
Yep, I learned this from a guy from Recife I met playing ball a several years ago (just prior to the Brazil WC).
Castro for 6 months, with an option to extend, per AJC. ATLutd.com still silent on the matter. I think it's done. Despite my concerns, we're starting to look pretty damn good, and the South American pipeline clearly hasn't closed. I still don't expect much from us in the CCL because form, but we can do this 2020 thing. I don't know what the numbers are on headers in and of themselves causing concussions for people who've already had one, but Bello's situation could be more serious in the long term. I have no doubt that everyone involved will do what's best for the kid.
Speaking of form, has MLS ever thought of doing some type of preseason tournament amongst those teams going to CCL? It'll be better than playing against USL teams. A preseason tournament between LAFC, NYCFC, Seattle and Atlanta would have been nice. Or even a tournament like the Florida Cup which NYCFC participated. Just invite some South American or Euro teams for some "tournament" to help the CCL teams prepare.
A) Agree the team is rounding into shape. Still have to see exactly how the pieces for together but if the players perform a playoff run still beckons. Hopefully Barco and Pity shine knowing this is in essence a contract year for theirselves. B) I'll be framing a thread for the CCL this week. Thanks for being patient.
If there are enough teams for some round-robin component to it, fine... otherwise we might get upset and get only one match out of it. I'd be surprised if anyone was willing to travel from Europe during the middle of their season, tho. I think it could be done with CONCACAF clubs, if a few LMX clubs will participate even tho they're in midseason. But hey, Elfsborg showed up. Is the Swedish league in season now, or do they start/finish differently than the rest of UEFA? The USA is a CONCACAF nation, and MLS is a CONCACAF league. There is no way on Earth that a UEFA tournament of any sort would include AUFC, sooooooo...
Ajax, Eintracht Frankfurt, Legia Warsaw, Rangers, PSV, Bayern Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and South American clubs such as River Plate, Vasco da Gama etc have participated in the Florida Cup. Oddly enough is that this is the first year an MLS team participated in it. Something like the Florida Cup but with the CCL participants plus a few South American and/or Euro teams would help a lot more.
Just a reminder, tonight's final preseason tune up can be live-streamed @ 8:45pm: https://www.atlutd.com/live
To answer your question, the Scandinavian leagues don't play in the winter. It would logistically be impossible.
Miles took a knock of some sort, replaced by Campbell early in the first half. CCL begins in a week, reg season in 18 days. Still no word on Castro, let alone Arzamendia, or, for that matter, Emanuelson. Maybe the FO has a surprise for us. I hope so.
Still no score. Both my phone and my computer were bought in Alabama, but my phone shows the game just fine and the computer says my location is outside the region. WTF? I'm one damn state over!
Hopefully taking Miles off was just precautionary because Campbell isn't ready. We don't look anywhere near match fit. That PK shootout brought back nightmares of Holland's WC and Euro failures.
Unfortunately it seems that it’s a little worse than that: Atlanta United and #USMNT defender Miles Robinson suffers quad strain in final preseason friendly, with CONCACAF Champions League play starting in less than a week. https://t.co/9PGZlyZhfy pic.twitter.com/2TGTqXHDuK— NBC Sports Soccer (@NBCSportsSoccer) February 12, 2020
Sounds like the Castro deal is done... no, I really mean it this time. The Castro deal is done. https://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-united-acquires-castro/e7fQvm434H3hihRqQOrB2H/
