Hak Bum Kim will be calling up players that need military exemption not waste it on a player who has nothing to play for. And no it is not the only way to show Bento seki he is a good player. He has club football remember?
Lolz... We have 4-5 kids that need exemption in attacking positions. And you want to use LSW so that he can show Bento that he's good in a U23 competition?
1. Kwon Chang-hoon, Baek Seung-ho, Lee Kang-in etc. are next to get exempted, 2. Lee Seung-woo doesn't need exemption and he doesn't need to be playing at the Olympics in order to "impress" Bento, it's also unfair to the other players that need exemption as well.
While I don't necessarily agree, the point Justmoment was trying to make is that winning the tournament is ultimately the number 1 goal and you have to pick the best player (LSW). He just didn't express it correctly. If there isn't a huge gap between LSW and others in his position that need exemption, then you have to go with the latter. If there is a significant gap, you have to pick LSW so that team can actually win the tournament or at least medal so other players can receive exemption.
I understood his point, but even so we still should be giving the players that need exemption the opportunity rather than using it on Lee Seung-woo, plus Kwon Chang-hoon and Lee Kang-in can fill in that void(CAM).
If putting LSW gives the Olympic team a significant boost, you have to include him so that the other young players have a better chance of earning exemption. KCH is a CM/RM, Lee Kang-In seems to be more of a central player as well even tho he can play LW. Still, this discussion is a bit premature. We're still 2 years away, aren't we?
LSW won't play a part at the Olympics, end of story. I bet he doesn't want it and Kim Hak Bum doesn't want it either.
It's all conjecture, but at this point, it doesn't seem like the 2020 olympic squad will receive a boost by including LSW.
Agreed. Can't see how LSW would make the 2020 Olympic team that much better. LSW still got long ways to go to establish some sort of a club career.
If you think Korea is that strong in soccer you are delusional. Even if you pack the best players for the team Korea maybe, just maybe, may squeeze out a medal once in a while.
You are delusional if you think LSW on his current growth trajectory will be significantly more important to the u23 in 2 years than our other talents (LKI, JWY, KCH, etc.). Why bring LSW along to ride the bench in Tokyo? So he can kick more water bottles?
And I am not sure Korea can qualify this time. It is very tough ever since they changed the format from home and away to a tournament. I wish you guys were right; LSW cannot make even the U23 team on merit. Then Korea should not have too much difficulty qualifying.
I don't see why LSW wouldn't play in the Olympics in Tokyo. He's not taking a wild card spot he will still be U23. He's also probably more talented than the next U23 player in his spot. Military exemption? We have to win a medal for that, right? It is in the summer during the off season as well.
Son won't be there and Poch won't let him go when he's already exempted. That one WC spot will go to Suk.
https://m.scmp.com/sport/football/a...hester-united-their-loss-son-heung-mins-south Manchester United were to blame for not injuring Son when the clubs met at Wembley last weekend.
son heungmin isnt going to tokyo but i dont see why lee seungwoo shouldnt be included in the squad if hes good enough. hes of age
Don't expect it because it won't happen . Suk and Kwon Chang-hoon are already two WCs, in fact I don't even think we need a third because there's really no other overaged player(s) that needs exemption besides those two.
a gk or a defender. Actually I think we'll need an experience gk because I can't really think of a good gk at this age. I suggest Gu Sungyun.
