He assisted Bologna's second goal today. Not a spectacular assist by any chance, but it is good to see him involoved in the build-up and attacking thrusts.
He ruined his game at the very end unfortunately. I honestly couldn't even tell wtf happened in the last Parma's goal
Played as a CB since the 44th minute. He was doing well untill the 86th, as his team was 0-2 up, then I stopped watching the match, only to found out later that Bologna conceded two late goals. I don't know if Tomiyasu was guilty of conceding both goals or one of them.
I saw Parma's goals. It seems Bologna's players were a bit complacent in the dying minutes of the match. Tomiyasu had nothing to do with the first goal, but he clearly should have cleared the incoming cross in the second goal. It seems that Parma's goalscorer fouled Tomiyasu to kept him out of play, but the situation could be understood that it was not a foul rather than Tomiyasu being outmuscled by Parma's player.
Tomiyasu is starting at left center-back as Bologna host Napoli. He was beaten by Manolas on a corner to concede Napoli's opener.
Also picked up a yellow when he was dispossessed around midfield by a Napoli player, then poked him in the eye to stop the counterattack. Later on he had an interception to kick off a counterattack, racing down the left half space with the ball and causing Manolas to pick up a leg cramp in the process. A measure of revenge, I guess? Bologna have been unfortunate - they had two goals called back by VAR where only the goalscorers' arms appeared to be offside. Barrow scores on a brilliant transition attack, his finish following a cutback leaving the hobbled Manolas with no chance at obstructing the shot - he was almost subbed off for Coulibaly after the earlier incident, meaning that Tomiyasu should probably get at least a partial assist for this one, lol.
LOL Tomiyasu just cannoned a spectacular left-footed shot into Donnarumma's net. Looked like prime Honda there!
Maybe he's secretly a forward after all which would explain why he's a bit sucking as a defender lately
Unfortunately Tomi was subbed, and he lost Rebic in one goal. Anyway it's been a long positive season for him.
The sub wasn't a tactical reason. Danilo also left the pitch in the same minute. He looks a bit out of gas. Since the begining of the season, Bologna has been too dependent on him, not only in defense, but also in attack. He acts like a playmaker from the backline in the team, which causes him extra fatigue. The tight schedule makes things more difficult too. Bologna has played 8 games in 26 days after the corona break and Tomiyasu is the only field player to start all 8 games.
Sorry, didn't mean to connect my two sentences as if one implied the other. Danilo also had a bad game but anyway I'm sure he just wanted to rest them, they were already down 4-1.
Tomiyasu had another solid match vs 2nd ranked Atalanta but ended the game prematurely injured. There's a chance it's end of season for him (4 matches in 2 weeks left) but it was an amazing season. He is praised by italian press and his coach Mihajlovic. Imo he will stay in Bologna the next season since he need to play regularly in the OG year.
Their season is over, they've come mid-table and they valued some players. I don't know if Tomiyasu will be there after Summer.
After the final matchday, Mihajlovic revealed that Tomiyasu's main position would be centre back next season. Meanwhile, according to Sabatini, unnamed Serie A clubs tried to sign him for about 20M euros but Bologna didn't take them seriously. They think his price tag is much higher.
Juventus, Inter and Napoli. https://www.tuttobolognaweb.it/mercato/mercato-le-big-su-tomiyasu-il-bologna-dice-no/
This source is a bit random, to be fair. Either way Tomi will play in Bologna again next season and I think he'll make the jump just after.
Tomiyasu himself wants to keep playing as right-back? https://www.corrieredellosport.it/n...gna_tomiyasu_blocca_l_arrivo_di_de_silvestri/
Strange to see. But it's nice that he thinks of his future in a broader perspective, even embracing a role that's not really super fit for him.
There is no quote whatsoever from the player, so it's just something that the newspaper claims that "the player thinks". The newspaper also says that he wasn't good when he played as CB.
He's japanese. For italian newspapers he simply "can't" be good as a CB cuz he's too light and as a japanese he's too short doesn't matter how his actually height is. However Mihajilovic is not italian, so Tomiyasu will have his chance as a CB. Ps: Juventus has very poor SBs but as things stand they will never invest 20+M for a japanese sb no matter what.
