Then if Japanese players play in e.g Belgium, Portugal and Switzerland, etc. first before potentially moving to Serie A, this rule will not affect them right?
Not unless they acquire EU nationality somewhere along the way. A big factor is that about half of the South American players qualify for EU citizenship (e.g. Portugal, Italy) through ancestry so are not affected by the Serie A quota.
No, the rule does not change. It's not about "where you play" but your passport. Literally none of this is true.
Exactly. For 90% of the season whoever (except here maybe) called Chievo Verona, Frosinone and Bologna as the future relegated teams. Than Mihajlovic arrived and save their ass with I can't remember how many victories in a row. As whoever has a few competence in Italian football known, both Fiorentina and Udinese are stronger teams with worldwide top players that played in their ranks before move to top clubs. Bologna the next season will play to avoid relegation while Fiorentina and Udinese will play in the middle of the chart maybe trying to reach a EL spot. If someone does not agree, simply wait for the next season and then we will see.
2015-2016: Bologna 14th, Udinese 17th 2016-2017: Bologna 15th, Udinese 13th 2017-2018: Bologna, 15th, Udinese 14th 2018-2019: Bologna, 10th, Udinese 12th Both will play again to escape relegation next season and I don't see anything comparable to "Hellas Verona". Udinese hasn't done anything since Di Natale days, they just pile up players on loan. As for Fiorentina, yes, they're a better team historically speaking, but Tomiyasu needs to play, that's what matters
aaand closing the thread again for a bit to avoid speculation. https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/ser...-di-emigrare-tomiyasu-sta-riflettendo-1264341 Bologna's AD today said something like "Tomiyasu visited Bologna because he wanted to see the places where he would work and he returned to Japan to reflect on the offer we made to him. The choice is to made by the player, with the club we already have the agreement" It's entirely possible he still did the medical checks too as they are not binding to the signature. Also, do note that as said he's technically on holiday now, no matter the club, so it might take a while.

Latest rumors say that Tomiyasu decided to not use his third week of holiday to join the pre season earlier. Preseason already started but not the frendlies. This is the calendar 14/7 Bologna-Sciliar (6th div) 20/7 Bologna-Virtus Bolzano (4th div) 26/7 Koln-Bologna 29/7 Schalke 04-Bologna 3/8 Augsburg-Bologna
https://www.bolognafc.it/en/bolognas-squad-for-training-camp-in-kastelruth/ Wasn't called for the first part of the pre-season actually. So we won't see him before the Koln game.
Sinisa Mihajlovic is stepping down as Bologna manager due to health reasons. I hope they'll keep the same mindset, because in that environment Tomiyasu can grow. If they change technical direction, this might be a problem.
Due to his price, they won't affort to bench him from the beginning. It's for him to catch his chance.
It's so sad that Mihajlovic suffering from leukemia. Earlier this year it was Ikee Rikako, Japan's best hope for multi-gold medallist at Tokyo 2020

Actually Tomiyasu didn't arrive these days and had already played a friendly on the 20th. Keren's post was referred to the Press Conference day.
His italian was perfect. Nice way to conquer italians' sympathy. Now, I ask to JLeague experts: they tried him as a fb and this make me angry cuz I bet they tried him in that position cuz they think as a japanese he's not strong/tall enough to play as a CB. My question: did he ever play, consistently, as a fb in JLeague? Or this is simply a total madness choice aka "put the japanese dude in the less important spot where he can't do damage"?
No. Playing as a full-back can do pretty bad damage to a team. I think they think he has the pace to tracking opposing players and surge forward + his crosses and passes are not bad.
Hmm. Tomiyasu seems set to start against Schalke. The problem: he's been used as a sideback all the time until now... The probable lineup: Skorupski; Tomiyasu, Danilo, Denswil, Krejci; Poli, Kingsley; Orsolini, Soriano, Sansone; Palacio
It is good they are doing their best to accommodate him in the starting line-up instead of benching him.
