    He needs 6 appearances if we remain in the top 30, 5 appearances if we make the top 20. He has 5, so if the US makes the top 20, he would be eligible regardless of whether he plays tonight. If the US stays 21-30, he needs to play tonight to be eligible.

    Gotcha -- for some reason, I thought he had played in more than six already. No one idea why I thought that.

    He has 9 caps, but only 5 in competitive games over the last 2 years, and competitive games in the last 2 years are all that count for work permit consideration.
