Looks like BEIN re-sold the Spanish language rights to NBC Universo at the last minute. Anything for a few extra $.

You are totally correct on this. But you should hear what the Australian fans say / think... they've been wanting him sacked for years now. Calling him incompetent... blaming all of Australia's recent struggles on their coach. Yes it's true they flew through 2010 qualification, but the cracks began to appear in 2014 as they struggled to qualify from a very easy group (Japan, Aus, Oman, Jordan, Iraq). It should be no surprise then they struggled with this weaker set of players and tougher qualifying group.

Just goes to show how they always blame the coach. Fans should be careful about what they wish for!

I dunno. It would be like Floyd Mayweather beating a dead dog. Might get a bit uncomfortable.

Watching the Russia-Brazil. 3-0 for the guests, although Russia didn't show badly in the first half. The Russian keeper is legit, Akinfeev saved two goals before finally conceding. Brazil looks scary.

In a friendly tournament (China Cup, with Uruguay, Czech Republic, Wales & China) this goal happened:

The awareness Cavani has of the whole field is what marks a world class striker.

Without Neymar we aren't true contender. For us, it is a race against time

The France-Colombia has been played at 100 mph. 2-2, 68", and I'm tired just by watching. Why can't we play at that speed? Gosh, it's like watching a tennis match.

    This thread is depressing.

In other news, France v Colombia is a thrilling friendly.

That's because we don't have a horse in this race.

Even if we don't have a horse in the race, I feel it's important to keep our eyes open and see the trends in the game outside our gates.

A twitter poll, fwiw, had a plurality of Colombians wanting move on from Peckerman after the WC. We could do much worse.

What a total mess Portugal's A-team is. I think the B/U23 team that played against us did it better, their main team is basically Ronaldo and 10 guys who seem to have never played with each other.

They're down 0-3 to a pedestrian Dutch side in Switzerland, and look, they just got a red to boot!

ahh... it was in Switzerland... so that's why there were so many empty seats.. it was at an erm... 'neutral' venue

Here's today's feel-good story - Gibraltar win only their second match ever and probably against their biggest opponent yet - beating Latvia 1-0

Cristiano & Fonte started, and Andre Silva and Joao Moutinho were subs. So it was mainly the bench for Russia playing, but still, it wasn't good.

Our man Thomas Dooley just took Philippines to their first ever major tournament - the 2019 AFC Asian Cup with a 2-1 win over Tajikistan in their penultimate match. Former Chelsea youth player Phil Younghusband scored the winner. The result ironically also qualified Yemen for their first every major tournament as they had the better head-to-head result than Tajik. Interesting story with Yemen as they had so many obstacles to overcome in order to make it... playing their home games here in Qatar.

Anyhoo, are you guys interested in this stuff, or is this just for teams that are going to the WC?

Romero went out injured early in the Spain-Argentina, and his replacement Caballero is total garbage. Worst goalkeeping I've seen in a while. 6-1 Spain.

wow - oh well.. went to see Yemen qualify for their first ever Asian Cup with a 2-1 win over Nepal. Truth to be told, Philippines win a couple of hours earlier against Tajikistan had already confirmed their passage..... but with Nepalese actually being the 2nd largest population group in Qatar after Indians, managed to pull a 7000+ crowd, that's a packed house by Qatar standards.. anyhoo, here's some highlights...
