October friendlies vs Argentina and Colombia? https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/ne...zs-colombia-during-fifa-international-window/
So if reports are true than our post WC schedule is... Mexico in Nashville Brazil in New York Colombia in Miami Argentina in The US England in London Italy in Italy That's pretty damn strong. That should also be it for the year
That is pretty damn good schedule for 2018! I know teams like Brazil and Argentina won't bring their best team because it will be just after the WC but they have good up and new comers they will also want to test out These test, and hopefully with a new coach by then that sticks to youth, gives the players an opportunity to get to know each other better on the field. The only team that the US will face that will have all their best players this year is France. That game is too close to the WC and all players will be fighting to be in the initial 11 for France in their first game.
Is this year-long money grab all so we can afford Sarachan's wage demands? I'd rather have a camp in one place for the Colombia and Argentina games but how likely is it the Argentina game isn't shipped out west in order to give that region a game?
Yeah, you wish there could be a cupcake in there somewhere early. Not exactly a friendly opening run for our next coach.
Mexico in August Brazil in Sept Columbia in Oct Argentina in Oct England in Nov Italy in Nov Do I have that right or is Mexico in Sept also?
The Brazilian media are also stating that Brazil will play two friendlies in the USA in September, one of them against the USA. They imply that the news is confirmed by the CBF. They are stating that one of the two games will in in the NYC area (but not which one). https://esportes.estadao.com.br/not...nos-estados-unidos-depois-da-copa,70002350409 I'd say a Brazil game at home is confirmed at this point; the real question is: Will it be in the NYC/NJ area?
The Brazil, Italy and England games are confirmed. September 7th: Brazil at Metlife September 11th: Mexico in Nashville November 15th: England at Wembley November 20th: Italy at a TBD location Also the rumored October games against Colombia and Argentina are expected to be in Chicago and Miami http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/usmn...-as-fall-friendlies/leb42esp5xhu1utwmms3q1p9j
God I hope so. Soldier Field hasn't hosted a big friendly for the USMNT since before I moved here, and I've been here over 7 years now. Only Gold Cups and Copa America. I think the last friendly was Poland in 2010? The "World Bowl" was too good for this world.
Interesting how it's designed: It basically looks like we've scheduled the best of Conmebol and Concacaf in August-October (except for Chile, which I think was monumentally unlucky, maybe full of themselves during qualifying (utterly bizarre that a team can win back to back Copa America's in 2015-2016, and at the same time completely fail repeatedly in home and road matches in qualifying for World Cup 2018). Anyway, I really like that, it's almost like instead of doing the Copa America, we're scheduling 3 of the best five teams in South America in friendlies. It's not the Copa America, but I appreciate the quality of competition. Add in two Euro powers in November, including, at this point, a semifinalist in England that should only get better as they incorporate kids from their star studded U-20/U-17 teams in the next few years. In the midst of absolutely loathing everything the USMNT has done since the abomination of October 10th, at least they scheduled some good competition for friendlies in the following 13 months, it's no patsypalooza a la 2006 (@ Portugal, vs Paraguay, @ Ireland, @ France, Vs Brazil, Vs Colombia, Vs Argentina, @ Italy, and @ England) plus some other solid matches. Definitely appreciate whomever was in charge in setting up friendlies.
Maybe we should work on practicing to beat T&T and Panama first? I mean, I get the point about selling tickets, but we need the practice. We won't win any of those games and will be bunkered the whole time. Attacking players will be isolated. Players who run around a lot and hustle will win plaudits while attacking players will not. Coach will start to set the roster based on that, then we won't be able to score at Panama or T&T when we need it.
