Now this is an interesting signing, probably the most interesting of the off-season. McInerney had a decent if unspectacular goal return rate in MLS--roughly one goal every four games played (though his goals tailed off in the last two seasons, and he was a peripheral figure for the Galaxy last year). A player like this could erupt into a regular goal scorer after moving down a level. I do note that, even when he was scoring decently, he moved around a lot within MLS, and I have to wonder why. Still, this looks like an excellent signing.
I used to play with McInerney all the time on various FIFA career modes, gonna be cool to have a player play for the XI that I actually knew a bit about before coming here

From what I gather, Saad was once considered very promising, but was more or less a total washout in Kansas City. He could pan out in USL, but it's certainly no guarantee. I still don't understand why the team didn't re-sign Don Smart.
With that said, Saad scored against FC Cincinnati in the preseason opener this afternoon. 🥅 4' GOAL! Soony Saad sends it to the back of the net!⚪1-1🔶#INDvCIN— Indy Eleven Live (@IndyElevenLive) February 22, 2018
soony was part of what @Sandon Mibut called the AAT (arab american trio) at michigan in 2010 with his brother hamoody saad and justin meram. those guys were fun to watch then. meram has gone on to be a rock star with columbus and now with orlando. i have no idea what hamoody is doing now. soony went pro after his freshman year. wikipedia says he wanted a european contract at that point, but he ended up in MLS. it looks like he spent some time in thailand too which is interesting. it will be fun to see what he can do in indy.
