Now that BoJo has led to the UK to an assisted suicide. What becomes of the EPL? With the UK no longer in the EU, what effect on transfers of other European players and of UK players into EU countries?
https://www.thenutmegnews.com/curre...volution-training-facility-lacks-massage-room I'm confused and disappointed that the author of this Nutmeg News article missed multiple opportunities to use the word "Deflated" in the title.
My guess is that one effect is that, without EU-imposed work-related limitations on importing foreign players, teams in the EPL and English Champions League will begin dipping into the cream of MLS and MX rosters without regard to whether these players have a national team presence.
Ah, you're right. But, those rules don't apply to European players - do they? - due to the EU rules regarding freedom of transit among member nations.
You know the MLS Expansion Ponzi bubble is about to burst when MLSoccer.com doesn't even put the announcement of a new expansion team as their top story.
And what time was "earlier today"? Is that before or after the actual announcement? I really think you're making much ado about nothing, here.
If I lived in/near DC it would be tough to care. I at least have the luxury of a fun team to watch near me that was a recent expansion. They seem to be working really hard to bring a talented group of players, coaches, and support staff to the city. Ownership sets a high standard.
Taken from MLS Reddit " In the past week... Kansas City break club transfer record to sign Liga MX golden boot winner Alan Pulido for $9 million San Jose break club transfer record to sign Villarreal winger Cristian Espinoza Vancouver break club transfer record to sign Liga MX striker Lucas Cavallini for $5 million New England set to make second highest transfer in club history for Polish striker Adam Buksa LAFC sign Uruguayan youth international Francisco Ginella for $2.5 million Columbus break club transfer record for Tigres attacking midfielder Lucas Zelarayan for over $8 million The ages of these guys are 28, 24, 26, 23, 20, and 27. That’s amazing."
It's become too many teams to care about any other than your home club. The nice thing about about leagues with roughly 20 teams and pro/rel is you have a mix of clubs that are always in the league and those that pop in and out. There are just enough clubs always in the league to care about (hate) and the clubs popping in and out at least have a novelty factor that gets you to care at least temporarily.
I decided to renew for next season, but have not taken their bait to lock in the season after next at next season's rate. I have never been this disinterested during the off-season because, once again, United is staring at an immediate future in which mediocrity is the most we can hope for next season.
https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...-club-will-face-every-team-except-these-three Not playing every team at least once is SHIT to me. If I wanted American football, there is already NFL.
I have nothing against new clubs - it's just happening all too fast and with too many of them. Not to mention in an unfair way (see Austin in and San Antonio out).
Last year is probably the last time every MLS team will play each other at least once. The league is getting too big, and I doubt they expand the schedule much past 34 games.
Especially since the March to Late October schedule only gives you 8 months to squeeze them in. Too late now to fix this. Too many teams and no one seems to want to switch to a August to May schedule (with 2 or 3 week winter break)
If MLS sticks with a 34 game schedule, which makes sense what with the extra games occasioned by the playoffs, the in-season MLS/MX tournament and the in-season U.S. Open Cup, the league will always have unbalanced schedules just like MLB the NFL, the NBA and the NHL. I think that the smart move would be, when the league expands to 28 teams, to divide each conference into two divisions with the end goal of a 32 league team with two conferences and two divisions of 8 teams each. Dividing the conferences into divisions would cut down on travel and would provide for a more equitable schedule.
