Except his argument is more along the lines of "There may have been corruption in this election, but I had nothing to do with it." Harris wants to redo the general election only, while the GOP wants to redo the primary and the general election so they can get Harris off the general election ballot.

Yeah, obviously. He isn't going to admit to a crime.

Calling for a new election is his way of trying to avoid prison time.

That may actually depend on whether he was subpoenaed to testify today or not. I read an article yesterday that said the reason why Dowless won't be testifying is because NC law says that anyone subpoenaed to the election board is automatically given immunity for any crimes related to the board hearing. So if Harris was subpoenaed to testify today, he may have already avoided prison time.

Looks like the NC Board of Elections voted unanimously to hold a new election for NC-09.

Democrats need to run endless campaigns and press adds showing that Republicans cheat and that they're the actual fraudsters. Yeah, that's going to win us some independent centrist voters.

OK, I just giggled at that.

There will be new primaries as well as a new general. I suspect Harris will not be the GOP nominee. In fact, he testified today that he has had two strokes* this year: I bet he uses that as an excuse to not even run.

*As a man of God, Harris is well aware of God’s propensity for smiting sinners.

    Dude, take the hInt.

Didn't he later say something about his son being judgemental and a little arrogant? Lol. Just take your licks, dude. It's amazing your son still knows how to tell the truth growing up with you as a father. No wonder he's judgemental.

This has become one of our most over used terms. People who do slimy shit need to be judged.

It would have been interesting (and depressing) to see how many people voted for him.

Just check how many people vote for the Repug, that will give you a very close idea.

Actually , it may have been better if he had run. Now the new repub is sure to win, when if Harris had run, you may have had a situation like that pedo on a horse guy in Alabama.

No he's not. Remember, this guy just won because he cheated. Pittenger, the ex-incumbent, at this point isn't going to run. So whichever GOPer runs will be a weaker candidate than Harris who, remember, would have lost a fair election. The whole stench of the thing is likely to help McCready and hurt the GOPer, not to mention McCready won't have a primary and the GOPer will.

Harris was fairly extremist so a new GOPer might pick up some suburban votes Harris didn't get. But this district has a few suburbs in Charlotte but is mostly the 2nd poorest region of the state, running along the SC border almost to the Atlantic.

And my first thought after Harris dropped out was that the Reps are going to run somebody with little to no name-recognition. Is that accurate?

The NCBE issued its ruling. It was scathing, of course. More interesting is that the report gives Harris a shit-ton of sideeye. Don't be shocked if he gets indicted as the Wake County DA and the SBI (State...you can guess the rest) proceed with their investigations.
