Pretty horrible to be honest. It's probably been beaten routinely and had it's teeth and claws removed to perform like that.

Uruguays main strength is breaking into space for Suarez to exploit. Egypt have parked the bus and shut the Uruguayans out. Shame Woy didnt realise this in 2014 when he basically played right into their hands with his hair brained tactical system.

Geez, Egypt self destructed there. Always a pet hate of mine when players dive in and tackle players in the corner going nowhere! So stupid and ultimately cost his side a point.

Uruguay deserved to win though as they created four pretty good chances before the goal. Nice to see Suarez miss a hat trick of chances. I think Egypt will be okay as they should have Salah back and they were pretty organized defensively. I also wouldn't be surprised if Uruguay draw against Russia.

Morocco has a tame setup. Slow and ultimately hoof the ball in the box.

That would have been a great finish if it had been at the right end.

Cracking World Cup so far I'd say. A couple early late match winners.

Fox probably has the worst English speaking announcers in the World Cup.

Spain and Portugal coming up. I'm picking Portugal to win and Ronaldo to score.

Everyone except Iniesta in the Spain starting XI has a beard.

Busquets, Iniesta, and Silva offer are terrible at covering ground. Only really in the team to pass and recycle possesion. This is what I feared on a Spanish scale...

What a goal by Costa despite elbowing Pepe. 1-1.

Spain score on a long ball ironcially.

I'd forgotten how tedious it is to watch Spain.
Edit: And De Gea does a Rob Green.

We have been haunted by keeper mistakes in recent times. Now its Spains turn.

Cracking game. I think both teams knew they were going through unless they screw up in a manner not usually seen, but that was as entertaining a match as I've seen in the group stages.

Worth noting that Ronaldo now has 84 international goals, bringing him level with Ferenc Puskas as the most by a European player. Only Ali Daei has more, and Ronaldo doesn't get to play Nepal, Sri Lanka and The Maldives.

Ronaldo came into this game with three goals 13 games in the World Cup. He equaled that tonight.

I wonder if we will ever produce anything close?

France got lucky there. The sort of win you pray for if you are below par in the first match.

    Iceland level into the 90th..
takes me back to when we played them and simply could not crack their defence , after Hart gifted them the goal .

That’s why I think our formation will work well

The fullbacks overload these park the buss sides and give additional width

I think Brazil will demonstrate this too with their aggressive fbs

Seemed more like they refused to take responsibility. Kept giving it to Messi hoping he would create something. Some of their best chances came when other players tried by themselves. But it didn't happen enough.
