Well, you mean she's as much a striker as on the field? I hope at least she won't celebrate with back-flips, there!

I liked Lauren Kaskie. Former Chicago Red Stars midfielder Lauren Kaskie signs abroad in Sweden. pic.twitter.com/Nb594ft9Yo— John D. Halloran (@JohnDHalloran) August 13, 2018

Red Stars blow a 2-0 lead thanks to awful plays by USWNT players. Goalie punches when she easily could have caught the ball. Punches it right to the middle of the field. Ertz then with a terrible giveaway to setup Portland’s equalizer
Don't feel too bad, Portland's USWNT player Sonnett gave the ball away to Kerr on Chicago's first goal and then, after the give away, didn't defend her properly. So, it was an equal opportunity game (including bad calls/non calls from the ref).
Meanwhile, French's save on DiBernardo in the last minutes of the game was outstanding and someone should explain me again why she's not USWNT's GK! With today's assist for Kerr (usual connection) Yuki Nagasato reached 1st place in the assists' chart for this season, alongside McDonald, Sinclair and Heath. Chicago should have really won this game, but I guess it's not the end of the world, especially if Orlando will lose the game that was postponed vs North Carolina. Red Stars just have to beat Sky Blue (not a so easy proposition as it can seem, because they're desperately looking for at least one win, in these final match-days of the season) and beat Orlando and Utah in two direct clashes that will decide the play-off run: I'd say that it's all in their hands and that's a good thing.
Red Stars have never had a losing season in NWSL and are guaranteed not to have one again this season. And have had only one coach that entire time. https://t.co/Wf6hNY272D— John D. Halloran (@JohnDHalloran) August 20, 2018
And who else would you suggest has always been over .500 every year? BOS, HOU, KC, NC, ORL, UTA, and WNY haven't been in NWSL every year (and even if you include the WNY/NC or KC/UTA carroyovers to keep each "team" in every year, both groups also had under .500 years) NJ and DC are usually under .500 POR and SEA both had under .500 years - POR in '15 and SEA in '13 That only leaves CHI
BTW, did you go to the game on Saturday? There were some Red Stars season ticket holders that made the trip.
Yes, I was there. Great atmosphere, great game, probably a fair result overall. The Red Stars were great early, the Thorns just didn't want it a much as the Red Stars and sometimes they get caught being too methodical. That changed at the half, the Thorns looked like a different team. An interesting perspective on the Kerr/Sonnett matchup. Kerr got two well-earned goals. If you watch them carefully and can slow down the replay, you can see that on her first goal she got separation for her shot by putting her hand on Sonnett's belly and giving a little push. On her second goal, she got separation from Sonnett with her forearm pushing against Sonnett's neck. Kerr made both those moves really well, which is what a goal scorer can do, and very few refs are going to call stuff like that, especially the first one. The Thorns didn't complain on either one, which tells me that's pretty standard stuff. It was a really good chance to see how great players work it in close quarters to help get that little separation they need. I thought that Sinclair's goal was brilliant, especially since Naeher was well and correctly positioned to try to stop it. I don't think there are many players that could have done what Sinclair did. I'm sure the Red Stars were bummed not to get a win after going up 2-0, but after the game they didn't seem unhappy. I'm sure it was a fun atmosphere for them to play in.

Lol, just wacthed a video from ten years ago (!) on Nadeshiko Japan thread where Yuki was playing in NT with Sawa and the other veterans and they were winning East Asian Cup 2008. I can see why the team was so successful later: at the time it was a bunch of youngsters but the coach had the guts to give them playing time anyway!
Total tangent, but... Man, I feel old! (And I know I'm actually probably one of the younger ones on these boards!) When I hear "ten years ago", I still think of the '90s... geez
