NBC Sports Network showed Norwich City celebrating promotion. They have been relegated out of the Premier League four times, which is tied for the most times. That does not include being relegated before the top level was the Premier League. In 2013-2014 through 2015-2016, they were relegated, promoted, and relegated. 2018-2019 is their third consecutive season in League Championship. Last season they were in the bottom half in 14th.
I was at Norwich v Reading (2-2) a couple weeks back. It was my first time to Carrow Road. It's a proper English football ground, and the atmosphere there is quite good - though I guess you'd expect that for a team chasing the league title. Nice one, Ivan. Give 'em a thread in the Championship forum just in time for them to leave it. Better hurry if you think the pigs need one!
If only you had been there for Norwich vs Sheffield Wednesday 2-2.....when Norwich actually scored the equalizer right at the end instead of conceding it! The two best games of the season though were the 4-3 vs. Millwall and the comeback from 3-0 down against Nott. Forest on Boxing Day.
Yes, Norwich have a history of being a "yo-yo club"- going down, back up, back down again. But I still have fond memories of watching them in the PL even in the years they were relegated. In 2015-16 they played a part in one of the greatest PL games ever, the 4-5 loss to Liverpool and also won at Old Trafford (maybe I shouldn't bring that up as you are Utd fan...) The kit from that season was awesome also.
if i'd've been at that one, I'd've been sat with Wednesday, so I wouldn't likely have enjoyed the last minute heroics to which you refer. but the game I was at (Reading) they trailed for the better part of an hour, and the Norwich fans were still very good. obviously, it was great when they equalized late, and better still when they took the lead in the 88th. … right up 'til 90+7.
You can bring that up. Beyond the fact that I don't remember the game, I'm okay with fans being happy if a lesser club beats Man Utd as long fans don't insult Man Utd, claim that referees favor Man Utd, or something like that. It was a bad season by Man Utd's standards with 10 losses, which was their second most in the Premier League era. They lost 12 in 2013-2014. They have 9 this season, but won't get 10 unless they lose hosting Cardiff. For some clubs, fans, and players, they could watch many years or retire with only one win over top clubs (or no wins over top clubs), such as Blackpool spending one season in the Premier League, reaching the promotion playoffs in their next season, and being relegated in consecutive seasons to League Two. After consecutive relegations, they won the 2016-2017 promotion playoff to League One, and 2019-2020 will be their third consecutive season there. I'm not checking for Blackpool's best win in their Premier League season in 2010-2011, which was their first top level season since 1970-1971.
Former Real Salt Lake academy standout Sebastian Soto signs with Norwich City July 28, 2020 10:47AM EDT https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...tmf13uX6V9c-Vc0bPGVPhm01_LlYMvoDEa2qM9wG8vVU4
Actually, I'd think Norwich would be a pretty good club to play for. It's a very nice city, and while Norfolk isn't exactly the most happening place in the UK, I'd think Norwich a good place to live (a young man with a bit of money and celebrity might disagree, to be fair). But their support is quite good. Carrow Road is excellent. And they've always got something to play for, be it promotion or survival - both of which I find more exciting than mid-table mediocrity. For whatever it's worth, I'd also think life as a Canaries' fan would be pretty decent, too, all things considered.
Completely agreed. It was a joke in reference to how much they suck. As Wednesday fan I have no room to talk though... But I'm 100% agreed.
It will always be a special club. As brutal as the reality of playing Farke's expansive system at Premier League level turned out to be, there were at least still two great memories to salvage from the 2019-20 campaign: the stunning upset of Man City when we somehow managed to score three goals to their two, and the penalty shootout win over Tottenham in the FA Cup in early March right before sports were shut down. In terms of which was the biggest upset of the season- Norwich beating Man City 3-2 or Watford beating Liverpool 3-0- I'd say it's a tie. When Norwich were relegated in 2005, Elton John performed at Carrow Road shortly afterward. One of the songs he sang was "The scars of relegation won't heal, but to me Daniel you're still a star....I'll miss Daniel, oh I'll miss him so much." If Farke does end up getting sacked during this Championship campaign, how fitting that song would be. He got us promoted in style, but now has fallen from grace. Elton is actually a Watford fan, and they were relegated along with us.

He was brilliant at Huddersfield, but hasn't exactly been pulling up trees since. His record at Schalke was dire, and he then took Young Boys, who had won the previous four league titles, to a quite distant second - or at least he would've, had he not been sacked before season's end. Good luck to him. Norwich seem to be a fairly well run club, and they've got some decent talent for this level. Like most of the division, they're only a few points off the playoff positions, so he's in with a shout.
Delia Smith to step down as Norwich director - Yahoo Sports Delia Smith and husband Michael Wynn Jones will cut their stake in Norwich City to 10% and step down as directors next year. They have reached an agreement with American investors Norfolk FB Holdings, who currently match the 40.4% owned by the couple, to increase their holding to around 85%.
Genuine surprise... and disappointment. I'm not a fan of American groups buying English sporting teams... or Formula 1...
It's kinda funny as I was having a recent discussion with a buddy of mine telling me that the USA has no justification to host another WC. Which might be true, but I think as of my last count 8 of the 12 WC sponsors were actually based here. Just always follow the money and those pesky domestic TV ratings...lol.
