Sorry if this has been posted already. Prices are up, naturally. http://yourhomesth.com/acct-auto/12395495/97024/1/#map
Maybe we should all say we're not renewing until The FO comes up with a better way for us to resell or trade in tickets. E.g. Let us price below SJE's so called "market price". #STHexit
Some of us are under 3- and 5-year contracts. And there is a several-thousand person waiting list, which I recently saw the Quakes quantify down to the single digits (though I cannot recall the context). So, management is currently somewhat buffered against the pitchforks.
Personally, resell or trade is not a high priority for me. I try my best to give my tickets away if I can't make a game. Certainly not a reason to boycott my season ticket purchase. If I felt I needed to resell tickets for games I couldn't attend I probably just wouldn't become a season ticket holder to begin with. Now, boycotting buying season tickets because of prolonged mediocrity on the field may be another story.
I'm not saying boycott for those of us in the long-term contracts. We are, after all and as discussed earlier, stuck to perform. But we can certainly withhold payment til the last minute and make it clear why we are doing so.
I just got an e-mail saying to join the STH waiting list.... which is apparently 3,690 fans long! Might want to think about adding some more seating on that open end of Avaya, guys...
Given that securing a place on the waiting list requires only a $50 refundable deposit, I wonder how many people TRULY interested (still) in season tickets that list represents. I'm thinking it's considerably less than 3.7K....
Our ticket price in the Supporters' Section rose from $15/game to $17/game, so not too bad of an increase. The list price for 2016 is $17, but we only paid $15. Similarly, the listed 2017 price is $18, but my invoice was for $17. The Supporters' Section has the cheapest tickets, one of the lowest rates of inflation and, apparently, an early renewal discount. Some existing Center Circle sections (104, 108, 127 and 131) are being renamed Midfield with a classification increase. Ticket holders in those sections are looking at 23% price increases. Similarly, Corner Flag Rows 2-5 have a 21% price rise. Good luck to people that want to renew, but downgrade their sections to keep the games affordable. So many price classifications; no other MLS team has such a complicated pricing map. Greedy ownership squeezing every penny they can out of us. They are apparently getting away with it for now. How much longer can they for a mediocre, not particularly entertaining, team in the overpriced and overrated Bay Area? Here's a table someone posted on Reddit: "Section 2016 2017 Increase ($) Increase (%) Midfield Club Row 1 $2300 $2400 $100 4.3% Midfield Club Rows 2-5 $1560 $1660 $100 6.4% Premiere Midline Rows 6-26 $1220 $1320 $100 8.2% Premiere Midfield Rows 6-26 $1000 $1100 $100 10.0% Midfield Rows 6-26 $700* $860 $160 22.9% Scoreboard Club $1800 $1900 $100 5.6% Center Circle Row 1 $1220 $1320 $100 8.2% Center Circle Rows 2-5 $1000 $1100 $100 10.0% Center Circle Rows 6-26 $700 $800 $100 14.3% Sideline Row 1 $1000 $1100 $100 10.0% Sideline Rows 2-5 $700 $800 $100 14.3% Sideline Rows 6-26 $560 $640 $80 1 4.3% Corner Flag Row 1 $700 $800 $100 14.3% Corner Flag Rows 2-5 $560 $680 $120 21.4% Corner Flag Rows 6-26 $480 $520 $40 8.3% End Zone $440 $480 $40 9.1% Family Section $440 $480 $40 9.1% Supporters Section $340 $360 $20 5.9% *Was part of Center Circle Rows 6-26."
I downgraded last year to avoid the 10% bump. I have nowhere left to downgrade to except the Supporter's section. Will probably just buy tix in the aftermarket next season and let the 3690 in line have a crack.
this is an insanely, uncessarily complicated pricing structure that only somebody either from a highly-ranked graduate school of business or from planet Zenu would have developed. It shows an utter lack of respect for the fans. I mean, 22 different pricing levels for a stadium of 18K seats. REALLY!?!?!?
Actually, I don't believe the luxury moat seats are even listed among those 22 different pricing levels, even though the 18k capacity subsume them.
my seat went up $5 per game, or $100 total. i will renew, BUT will make it extremely clear that "small team" Doyle should be shown the door, if we are ever to progress.
The luxury moat has contracted price increases (see below). I only signed up for 3 so we'll see how bad things are next year
I picked 5 teams at random to see how many price levels they have: Toronto FC has 10, though their end zone supporters section (massive, and listed as sold out) may be the 11th. Chicago has 7. Houston has 14 (appears to include Club seating.) Philadelphia has 9 Colorado has 7. Even NYCFC, with jumbo Yankee Stadium to sell, only has 13 levels. (Then again, the Sharks have 18 price levels...maybe its an SJ thing...)
Note that if you renew online you are automatically opted in for auto-renewal next year, with no choice to opt out. To opt out, you have to call in. Very annoying.
