I wanted to have faith that NC would have won by more than one goal this time, but there's no way: I should have gone with the minimal margin once again! :x3:

Anyway, I've got all of the W/L/R predictions (two of them with exact result), except the Seattle match! I had told before that I need help from the team I root for: I can't help being optimistic about their predictions, so they have to deliver, or they'll make me miss precious points!!! :devilish:

Alright, time for week 4 points!

    59Amerinorsk : 11pts + 2+0+3+2+1 = 19pts / 20g
    babranski : 7pts + x+x+x+x+x = 7pts / 10g
    Blaze20 : 20pts + 3+0+2+0+3 = 28pts / 20g
    blissett : 15pts + 3+2+1+2+3 = 26pts / 16g
    BlueCrimson : 15pts + 2+0+1+2+1 = 21pts / 20g
    CoachJon : 14pts + 2+0+1+1+1 = 19pts / 20g
    holden - 16pts + 2+0+1+1+3 = 23pts / 20g
    lil_one - 16pts + 2+0+2+1+1 = 22pts / 20g
    Lucy - 15pts + 0+0+3+2+3 = 23pts / 20g
    lunatica - 20pts + 2+0+2+2+1 = 27pts / 20g
    Smallchief - 12pts + 1+0+3+1+0 = 17pts / 16g
    STT - 13pts + 2+0+1+1+1 = 18pts / 20g
    weelilbit - 3pts + x+x+x+x+x = 3pts / 2g

What a week! The only people to get less than 5pts didn't even play, so now almost everyone is over 1PPG, and those that aren't are a lot closer to it. The big winner on the week has to be blissett, who's stormed well ahead of 1PPG and is only 2pts shy of Blaze with four less games! lunatica also feeling the heat there, too. The chasing cluster is on 21-23pts, but even for those in the 17-19pt range just need a good 8-10pt week!

Let's see if posting first keeps being my lucky charm:

    HOU 2 NJ 0
    SEA 5 DC 2
    KC 1 POR 2
    ORL 1 NC 2
    CHI 1 BOS 1

Edit: whoops, posting second for a few minutes, this time! It will be my debacle! :x3:

I was tempted to go with the break of NC winning-strike too, but in the end I didn't, because, upon pondering, they seemed too much solid to me for Orlando.

But I like your move and I somehow wish you good luck with it.

Dang! I can't believe!!! I was one goal short to unbelievebly predict a 5-2 or 6-2 result!!! :x3::x3::x3:

Seattle Reign had often betrayed me with negative results in the recent past, now they do with a positive one, scoring even more than I had predicted! Nothing against Lindsay Elston, of course, but couldn't she have kept that goal for another time, when we'll need it?

At least, Naho scored and, with a 4-assists/1 goal performance, she has a good chance to get Player of the Week award (how often she got it, in season 2014? Was she also Player of the Month some time? :cautious:).

The first three results say that I am going to drop a boatload of points this week, unless the next two games somehow lift me up: can I at least have a special mention for "almost" having predicted a 6-2 result? :p I had the guts to try a very unlikely result, I at least want recognition! :D

    Week 5 prediction summary!

    59Amerinorsk : 19pts + 1+1+1+2+1 = 25pts / 25g
    babranski : 7pts + x+x+x+x+x = 7pts / 10g
    Blaze20 : 28pts + 0+1+1+0+3 = 33pts / 25g
    blissett : 26pts + 0+2+0+0+3 = 31pts / 21g
    BlueCrimson : 21pts + 0+1+2+1+1 = 26pts / 25g
    CoachJon : 19pts + 0+1+1+0+0 = 21pts / 25g
    holden : 23pts + 1+1+0+0+3 = 28pts / 25g
    lil_one : 22pts + 1+1+1+0+1 = 26pts / 25g
    Lucy : 23pts + 0+1+1+1+3 = 29pts / 25g
    lunatica : 27pts + 1+1+1+0+1 = 31pts / 25g
    Smallchief : 17pts + 0+1+1+0+1 = 20pts / 21g
    STT : 18pts + 0+0+2+2+3 = 25pts / 25g
    weelilbit : 3pts = x+x+x+x+x = 3pts / 2g

The big winner on the week was... me! With seven points, followed closely by 59Amerinorsk with six points. 59Amerinorsk and I still have a lot of catching up to do, though, both of us just now hitting 1PPG. Our leading three players did not change, but the gap between blisset and lunatica is now gone! Also, the gap between #3 and #4 has shrunk by 1pt.

==This post has been edited to correct a misattribution of points for the KC-POR game. If I scored you based on a 1-1 score and not a 0-0 score too, please let me know!==

Mmm, I guess you made the same mistake quite a number of times, maybe almost for the entire board. Initially I had just checked me & Blaze20, because it didn't make sense to me that I had caught up with her, but now I see that you probably scored based on a KC-POR 1-1 result for other people too.

For instance, other people predicted KC-POR 1-2, and uncorrectly had 1 point (as well as me, initially): 59Amerinorsk, CoachJon.
Holden, instead, had 0 points, despite having a KC-POR 0-2 (should have 1, since he got KC's 0 goals)

Basically, in scoring that game, you sometimes correctly had a 0-0 result for it, sometimes likely an 1-1.

Finally, a clarification: do I get it right that, when someone correctly predicts a draw, he always gets the "goal difference" bonus? (you and BlueCrimson had predicted an 1-1 result and got 2 points). Makes me wonder if one shouldn't predict more draws, since this way he's guaranteed the GD bonus... :p If you predict a win/loss, you could have the goal difference wrong, but if you predict a draw you can never be wrong with goal difference... :giggle:

Thanks for catching those three, too... I guess I thought of the wrong score 5/11 times, just short of half... I can't edit the old post any more, but I'll make sure to correct the errors in next week's post.

It is true that picking a draw means you would by definition get the GD correct! It's actually a strategy I used back in the WPS days, to relatively good effect. But it's not a very effective strategy in the current points system (or even in NWSL in general - it never helped me much from 2013-2015 even when they used the old points system). As a case in point, I went back to my WPS ways and picked 8 of the 10 games these past two weeks to be draws, and only just now reached 1PPG! X-D

But yeah, the new points system lets people get those occasional +1's if you got one team's score correct, so if you pick a W/L there are now two ways to go from 1pt to 2pts (GD or one team's score) instead of necessarily getting the GD.

    Who's ready for Week 5? =-)
As a note: like previous prediction seasons, gameweeks are considered to end on Sundays (except for the very, very rare Monday game), so midweek games (such as the upcoming Wed. May24 game) are considered as part of the following week, not the preceding week.

    BOS v POR, May19, 7pm
    NJ v HOU, May20, 4pm
    WAS v KC, May20, 7pm
    NC v CHI, May21, 4pm
    SEA v ORL, May21, 9:30pm

Ok, let's try to catch up with this elusive Blaze20. :sneaky:

    BOS 2 POR 2
    NJ 4 HOU 0
    WAS 1 KC 1
    NC 1 CHI 1
    SEA 4 ORL 1

I'll keep predicting big Seattle's win, but I just can't seem to predict shoout-out from them.

And I am back to posting first! :sneaky:
